Midwife wont accept me because I'm high risk??? Whaaat!!
I chose to do research on a midwife, and wanted to give it a try. I like the idea of a birthing center, no iv, no cath, no drugs at all...I would rather be able to move around and not be constricted to the bed of a hospital. I hate nurses coming in every ten minute asking if I want an epidural. So, I figure, a midwife just might be what I would be best suited with. I called a local midwife, and she said because of my PSD, she wouldn't be able to take me, that I'm high risk and should be seen by an ob. Now...I don't understand...I know what PSD is, I've had it before...the only different thing is I'll have to be induced. We all know this. (If I go long into my pregnancy and experience too much pain my blood pressure will go through the roof and I'll put the baby at risk to be under a large amount of stress, and I have seen so many women go under for emergency csec...and I refuse to get cut) HOWEVER...there are natural ways to push the body into labor, a somewhat natural induction like massage techniques, pressure points, sweeping and massaging the cervix...ect. I would like to try to sway my body naturally to go into labor rather then pitocin...I don't need pain meds either, so it would be zero drugs. I know that a midwife also, in some and few incidents will use pitocin if deemed NECESSARY. Why would this midwife tell me she refuses to take me?? I'm pissed!!
