Ugh! Daycare!

Ok so I went and turned in the application and paid the money for my daughter to start daycare next week. So after I do all this she asked me what time she will be in on Monday. I tell her around 11am. I don't work until 12am. She says oh we must have forgot to tell you when you came before that we have a cut off time of 9:50am! No kids after that time. Omg..how could you forget to tell me that part. Is this standard for daycares? Now I'm sure I have to go back on the hunt for a daycare. I live 20 minutes from my job..the daycare is near my job..not my house. Its about 30mins from my house. So now I have to get her to daycare and do what for 2 hours? I cant go back home. Ill be there only like 30 minutes and then have to drive all the way back! Ugh! I really liked this daycare.

  • Can you start work earlier?

@Steph_due_101611 no..that's someone else's shift already. We have our set shifts.
  • And its not possible to switch shifts?
  • I work in a day care. We don't really have a cut off. it's just nice for then to be there before 10. Especially with the older kids since they go down for nap at 12. But at my old work I feel like we asked that they please come by 930 obviously sometimes there are dr appointments & what not! They prob assumed you'd drop off earlier (not many ppl work that late) so they prob didn't think to tell you about their 950 policy. But that should be in their hand book which you should have gotten.
  • @steph_due_101611 no we cant switch permanently. I cant take her shift.

@babyluv8 so this is a daycare standard? I dnt know what I'm gonna do then.
  • @mimii36 I worked at a daycare and there was not a policy like that. We had kids that showed up 10:50-11:15

  • Wow. Wtf?! No. My daycare doesn't have any restrictions...what happens if you have a morning doctors appointment? You're just gonna miss an entire day because of one 1 hour appointment?? Smh.
  • @kendylsmommy 11 would be fine. I wish this daycare was 11

@mmomma1013 I had never heard of a policy like that either but I'm a ftm so what do I know...Lol.
  • @lilsugarsmomma they said doc appts are the only exception and that I would have to bring a doctors note. Its crazy. I would understand older kids because of naptime but I think its crazy for the infants. They told me they don't have a scheduled sleep time for the infants..they let them do their own thing so idk what the problem is.
  • Nope....I drop off whenever! I work retail so my shifts rotate so I am always dropping off at different times depending on what time I have to be at work. Sometimes I drop off at 1pm and hubby picks up at 7pm. I LOVE my daycare and so does my daughter!
  • I think that is crazy if I'm paying a Arm & a Leg I should be able to bring my child according to my work schedule not yours! Is it a 24hr daycare? because the 24hr daycares I know don't have time frames.
  • @MissQ_1stTimeMommy2B I know..that's the same thing my mom said. I mean we pay them! They don't pay us! We should make the schedule. And no its not a 24 hour daycare. You would think they would be happy to accept her later..that's less time they have to keep her and they still get the big bucks.
  • Not necessarily a standard. Like I said where I work we don't have a cut off time but some places do. Since she is a baby I don't see why it would matter what time she came. I just know when they hit toddler room & up it's harder to put them down for nap when they come at 11-12 since they usually get to sleep in for the families I know.
  • Just by the sound of it like them telling you ii need a dr note if she came late thats kinda crazy!! I don't like that! They seem too strict for me.
  • @babyluv8 thats what I was thinking. It shouldnt be an issue on what time the babies get there. & youre right that does seem strict. I mean what if im running late one day? I have to miss a whole day of work because I couldnt get her to daycare on time. Seems crazy!
  • Im the manager of a daycare/preschool. We do not have a drop off time for the infants but if u will be dropping them off after noon, we just ask for a courtesy call. For ages 1-5 we ask them to be in by 10 because it gives them time to settle down before its lunch and nap time, tho classtime starts at 9 so they would be missing out
