I feel horrible, I was out of the room for a minute..

edited February 2012 in Babies Health
My husband and I were out of the livingroom for a minute and my son found his was across the room, by rolling and scooching, and rolled into our electric heater and burnt his hand :( its about the size of a quarter.. We put ice on it and tried to put burn cream and bandaid on it but he keeps taking it off.. I feel horrible that it happened and I wasn't there watching him :(

  • Maybe @ashleyfew will know what to do! Poor baby, they make cool touch heaters
  • Oh dear, poor little man! Maybe look at getting a heater surround/screen type thing for when he is rolling around. And don't worry, unfortunately we can't watch them 24/7 however hard we try (*)

I've heard that neosporin or anything creamy or greasy will seal the burn, lock in heat and make the burn worse. I could be wrong though.
  • Aloe Vera... Its safe if he gets it in his mouth and it helps with burns... Dont fret it happens but do get a cover around the heater and check for other 'in arms reach' dangers... Crawling, walking and rolling gets em in all kinda dangers!! Lol...
  • Yes Aloe is great. Especially if u know someone who has a plant, get it strait out of the stalk. My son burnt his hand & it kept it from ever blistering up.
  • Things like that have happened to every mum. We cant watch them 24/7. When my son was a year old a plate fell on his head... Bled like a war wound but was only a tiny cut... I felt bad for months

  • A&D gets rid of the burn and pain. Me and my mom both got burned cooking not long back and it worked best.
