don't use baby wipes??

My friend just had a baby, and at the hospital they told her not to use baby wipes! They said only use wet paper towels.. does this have something to do with circumcision? Why shouldn't she be using wipes?

  • I have no idea :/ I have had 4 kids...3 boys and a girl and never have heard anything like that.
  • @jnlelrod its weird isn't it?! It's blowing my mind!
  • same thing happened w me at the hospital. They told me that the wipes are too strong for their sensitive skin when they are first born. we still used wipes but made sure after every change w used butt paste and we had no issues. our LO is almost four months old and we have yet to have any type of diaper rash!
  • they even had these soft paper towels (reminded me of viva power towels) to use while we were at the hospital! it was weird but apparently it's a very common practice!
  • @crystaldawn0830 okay, that makes sense..
  • Yea they didnt have wipes at my hospital eithee. Just soft paper towels
  • Maybe that's an excuse for them to save money? My hospital had baby wipes for both of my babies.

When I had my son they told me not wipe either...they told me to clean with a wash cloth and warm water because of the circumcision...just until it healed.

  • My daughter is 2 months on the 12th and they have us wipes at the hospital and never said anything about it. Thats all I ever use no problem here. Ill look it but just like everyone says sounds weird.

When I had Nyla they didnt give us wipes. We had these cloth wipes which we had to wet it ourself. I wash my Babys bottom with water if im home. If im out shopping then ill use wipes.
  • I try to use a wet washcloth when at home. My daughter's skin is really sensitive and her bottom gets bright red if I use wipes too often
  • In the UK we are advised its best to use water and cotton wool at first as their skin is so sensitive. My son is now 3 months,I use cotton wool and baby lotion if I change him at home, wipes if we are out
  • My hospital had both.
  • My hospital gives these dry wipes to wet yourself.

  • Mine gave us wipes.
  • I was advised not to use wipes till 6 weeks because of their newborn skin so we used warm wash clothes. My hospital had us use soft gauze not paper towels.
  • I was told to use those soft paper towels at the hospital for the first month because their skin is so sensative, endless I was gonna get sensative pampers brand which I did for the first month
  • We used wipes my Lo she's fine
  • I had the little dry ones you wet. But they at first gave me a little thing of wipes. I guess one per costumor??
