Greatest prenatal vitamin

I'm looking for a prenatal that does not mix irion and calcium together. Once irion and calcium are taken together they cancel each other out, so your baby ends up with neither vitamin. I'm also looking for a easy to digest tablet to ensure unborn receives all nutrients. Any suggestions?

Oh really I didn't know that. Looks like Ama be switching mind. I would love to know which one is good to
  • I'm not home at the moment so I can't remember the name of them but they are gummy prenatal vitamins they are sold at target they are very yummy they taste like candy easy to take cause I tried two other vitamins before these but the other ones would make me nauseous so I rake these which contain no iron but they have everything else then I take a chewy iron tablet... I wish I could tell u the name of them go online to target.com and search for them...they are really good :-D
  • Oooh I found them they are called vitfusion Prenatal vitamins the jar contains 90 of them check them out at target.com I searched them they have 5 stars on the reviews
  • Thats What I take, and I took with my last pregnancy. They are amazing
  • Trixii, Thank you I will go online a view ingredients and let you know what I think!
  • You Gotta check out promiseprenatal.com it is a awesome program that gives exactly what you need for what ever trimester your in first trimester has minimal iron and high B-6 to help morning sickness and constipation its a great program.
  • promise prenatal also comes with DHA which is good for babies brain and eyes development our dr loved it
  • They also have dha
  • @ Trxii , please no offense, however this vitamin has many inadequate ingredients, but I will only name a few. It only has 400 mcg of folic acid research has been updated and it has now been determined you baby needs 800 mcg of folic acid, it also has no omega fatty acid with contribute to healthy cell growth and nervous system development. It also lack CoQ10 which many pregnant when need to give them energy so they are not so fatigue. Thanks you for your suggestions lady's
  • @ bdevault these ingredients where much better however calcium and iron should not be mixed together in any dose, I also noticed folic acid was a slightly low, and key ingredients where missing such as CoQ10, omega's, and probiotic, and lipoic acid. Thank you again for your suggestions.
  • @Tye, just wondering, where did you hear that taking iron and calcium together cancel each other out?? I just read mine and two other labels and they all have calcium and iron together so im just wondering
  • @ Angie87 I am conducting extensive research and will update you once I reach my conclusion.

My doc gave me samples of a perscription prenatal called gesticare dha. It has 2 separate pills one with calcium and the bulk of the other vitamins that dissolves in the stomache and the other pill is iron and it dissolves in the intestines. That way there is no interference between the calcium and iron. You take the 2 pills at the same time everyday. Im sure your doctor would have no problem giving you a perscription for them.
  • iron (and zinc for that matter) and calcium don't exactly 'cancel' each other out, but your body won't absorb all of the calcium when taken with them. its better to separate them but your baby will still get some calcium if you don't.
  • @ 2600wifey, My mother is a Scientist/Chemist, she is well aware of proper mixtures, and inadequate ingredients. I have also done my own research and I have found her finding to be true. This research consist of lots of reading from various sources including scientific books on chemical mixtures as well as internet research. I am beginning to understand how difficult it is to find the right vitamin.
  • @Tye well hurry up and find it before we are done with our pregnancies!! lol
  • Well @tye is right...I'm a nurse. Iron and calcium should not be taken together...calcium hinders iron absorption...its best if u take a separate iron supplement at least 2 hours after any calcium intake :)
  • @ Momamar its always best that iron and calcium are taken a separate times during the day. Once calcium and iron mix together the calcium binds to the iron. Once this happens once this happen it interferes with the absorption of both. Which is why I stated they cancel each other out. Thank you again.
  • @wifey26, you got it.
  • @rockinmomma, thank you I will have to check it out.
  • @skippers1st, thank you ,it always helps when a medical professional gives conformation. Please enjoy the rest of your day.
