  • Are you for it or against it? Lol
  • i know i didnt personally choose my sexual preference. It was never something discussed by my mother, peers, teachers, NOBODY! So why should I hate a person for having a different preference than I? It's effin natural. I'm pretty sure someone wouldnt volunteer themselves to live a life of ridicule and have hatred casted upon them because of feelings uncontrollable. No one can make me dive into any womans parts, nothing that I see will change that, so wtf is a gay individual to do? Acquire some new hybrid trait that allows them to decide -- YES, I WILL NOW LIKE WOMEN or MEN?? & I guess the argument of God can come in BUT i have my feelings on that too but i'll keep them reserved. I hate homophobic people. YES, I hate them because I believe in love. Love makes people happy, why the hell should they be denied happiness if it has absolutely NO effect on your current life. Dont like it? Don't speak about it or look for it but leave them the hell alone! Im so damn upset right now
  • @starrxoxo9
definitely FOR it lol, it sent before i was done!
  • And apparently, because of gay marriage, God is "coming." But somehow, god didnt find the cruelty of slavery, the holocaust, women abusing babies, men raping their daughters, church men raping their students, students killing their peers and a whole list of other tragedies enough to end this disgusting world huh? But the people who he created, if you believe in it that way, that love one another and want to live like a "normal" couple would be the cause to end the world??? LMAO. FOH
  • I completely understand what you mean. Especially the religious aspects of it because their are so many misinterpretted things in the bible. It's crazy to me that people can say its wrong because the bible says so. But the bible also says many other things are wrong but you don't see ppl talking about that. In the bible football would be bad because its "pigskin". You don't see football being banned. Don't get me wrong. I 100% believe in God but not religion! Religion divides people. Anyway...I think that people should just live their own lives and not concern themselves with others. If someone is gay...how is that affecting your life? People are so wrapped up in another persons rights and wrongs that they are blinded by their own. I'm a 100% for gay rights! Like you said...its not there choice. You can't help who you love. Saying gay people chose to be gay is like saying an abused woman chose to be abused by her husband. Love is an emotion that you cant choose! It chooses you!
  • @KayyCarter you're exactly right. People are acting like being gay is the ultimate sin! In all the Bibles I've read it says that NO sin outweighs another!
  • Well thankfully at least Obama is for gay marriage...,. Too bad people only see the bad in him....
  • I totally agree. My bil came out to is a couple years back. My hubs family is mormon so my mil freaked disowned him, then took it back and then had the audacity to say you can come back but your faggot boyfriend is never allowed in my house. My hubby and i dont go to church anymore and my bil says we are the only ones he feels supports him.
  • I am completely for gay rights! As far as the religious aspect of it being a sin...even IF that is what you believe...who cares?! It's their sin isnt it? It's not like they are forcing you to be gay with them! Just leave them be!
  • People need to worry a lot less about others and a lot more about themselves!
  • I don't think anyone should hate anyone. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, including people who disagree with being gay. In my eyes, if you hate someone for being against gays, its just as bad as hating the gay person. There's no difference. Hate is hate. We shouldn't judge anyone no matter what side of the fence they're on.
  • Yepp...its ridiculous! It shouldn't matter if you want to be married to the same sex or not you should have the option to..you shouldn't have to be told who you can or cannot spend the rest of your life with.

Love is Love in my opinion. Why So we not allow "Gay" marriage when North Carolina passed the bill for 1st cousins to get married? If i remember right Incest is more taboo then Homosexuality? The Main problem With allowing Gay men and women to get maired is stepping on Overzealous religious people toes on there rules of what is right and wrong and there views on what the bible allows and doesn't allow. So what will happen if we pass the law? Gay people will get married God will not End the earth in hell fire and plauges! There is much worse things going on in this world then allowing 2 people that love one another to get married . If 2 people are in a domestic partner ship and Partner A goes in the hosipital Partner B would not be allowed to make any desions if that person was incapple of making their own, why because they are not married..
If "God" was truely going to end the world dont you thing it would because of Genoside , human sex trafficking, Child abuse, Domistic abuse, Murder? and many other horrible things.
And another thing we shouldnt label it as GAY MARRIAGE .... Just allow MARRIAGE to have equal rights to MALE/Female Partnerships MALE/MALE Partnerships and FEMALE/Felmale partnerships.
Not trying to step on any religion or religious persons toes . But this is purely my opinion take it or leave it.
  • People fighting against LOVE is so ridiculous. I will never understand it. (in MY opinion... Now, im just stating what i feel and beleive and EVERYONE is allowed their own voice to b heard... So dont get angry w what i beleive because i still respect others for having different beleifs and opinions.) Take all of that energy and put it against something else. Like why arent these "church" people taking all of that energy and trying to stop abortion (which is murdering and innocent life) instead of fighting again LOVE. To me the "churches" have their priorities mixed up. Let people love.
  • Man has altered the bible soooo many times to suit their needs. Languages have come and gone and translators can easily mistake one word for another, completely altering a simple sentence. Plus like @Mimii36 pointed out, most people against gay marriage only pick the verses of the bible that suit their needs. According to parts of the bible its my duty to bear children, if I'm incapable should I find another woman to have his kids? Logically the answer is no, but its exactly what happened to Abraham and Sarah in the bible.
  • I'm for it! My mom is gay & I wouldn't want it any other way!! Bfs uncles (they're together 25yrs now!) Are and I love them too!
  • @starrxoxo9, I agree with you! I will never hate someone for having different beliefs than me. I may find them idiotic and ignorant, but I won't hate them :)

As for gay marriage, I see NOTHING wrong with it. We have separation of church and state for a reason. The First Amendment to the United States Constitution provides that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof ...." Gay marriage should be legalized.

If a church does not want to marry a homosexual couple, they should not be required to because it is within their religious right! However, most marriages do not occur in churches nor do pastors/priests etc marry ALL couples. If a gay couple would like to go to the courthouse and get married, they should have every right to. I will respect the church that does not feel it is morally correct to marry a gay couple, but they should respect the couple wishing to get married somewhere else...it doesn't affect anyone in ANY way.
  • @captivated thanks for understanding what I meant!! It's hard for a lot of people to see both sides.

    @starrxoxo9

I just don't understand people that get so upset over specific rights, but feel others should have theirs trampled on. If you are an activist for our freedoms and rights as an American, you have to respect everyone's rights- especially religious ones. No church should be forced to marry any couple. A church has every right to chose to not marry ANYONE they please ie: someone of a different religion, etc etc.

But with that said, legalizing gay marriage needs to be done. There would be many churches willing to marry these couples. And not all of these couples would even wish to be married in a church! I won't be getting married in a church with my fiance :)
  • As far as the Christians who oppose gay marriage, if you read the passage attached the whole city is suffers because of several men wrong doing. That would probably be why most Christians are against it. Would you want to go to jail for someone else's wrong doing? I think that Christians who oppose this have the best heart when doing so, sometimes when people try to educate it comes off as condimnation. When they should really be educating on the matter they are trying to micro manage their lives, because it is easier. I believe it also goes hand and hand with "judge not least ye be judged" its not my place to judge anyone. That being said, I will not express my thoughts, the are not important. But for those that follow the bible this is why it concerns most.

  • Being married to someone of the same sex is NOT wrong! And saying so or believing that to be true IS being judgmental. Sorry, not trying to "attack" you @second_time_mommy7, but if you disagree with equal rights for homosexuals, then don't you marry one.
  • @drgonzo523 if you actually read my comment I said those who judge gays are wrong. I also said I am not going to state my beliefs. So you assuming that I am against gay marriage because I gave a Christian stand point on it is WRONG.
  • I don't agree with that @drgonzo523. Everyone is judgmental. We are judgmental when we condemn a rapist for being a horrible person. Where does it say that rape is wrong? A man-made law? The Bible is also man-made...We believe rape is wrong because it is completely immoral to us. Someone disapproving of homosexual marriage may find it morally objectionable. It doesn't make someone a bad person or any less of a person.

BUT, I believe someone can believe gay marriage is wrong and still support the legislation. It has no affect or bearing on your life! When someone fights for legislation to ban and disallow someone the basic of our rights as an American, that is when I feel it is wrong.

  • @2ndbutfirst, that's the thing! Legalizing gay marriage would not force any church to marry them. The church has a legal and constitutional right to do that. Now, if gay rights activists want to pass legislation allowing them to be married and also want any church to be forced to marry them, it is total hypocrisy. You want YOUR rights, but you want to take away someone else's in order to accomplish that? I would be against gay marriage in that case.

The law should be made that anyone of the same sex can be married. Point blank. It should NOT force anyone to marry them, though. That is when you are trampling over the rights of others, which is the very thing you are against! (not you, literally. You in a general sense)
  • This is America and it states in the declaration of independence that all citizens are given the right to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". Who are we to take away those rights?? They are people just like us. They shouldn't be treated like second class citizens because of feelings they can't control. Stop this nonsense! Separate but equal didn't work out so well last time, lets not let history repeat itself.
  • The pursuit of happiness. It doesn't say that we have the "right to happiness". We have the right to pursue it :)

And I am with you @drgonzo523. I just don't like to see people with a different belief get persecuted. Unless it's an offensive and hurtful point of view like, "fags don't deserve a thing" or "gays are disgusting", then that is pure ignorance and bigotry. I don't agree with it whatsoever, but they have the right to their own moral beliefs. Just like an anti-abortion activist has the right to theirs while I am pro-choice. When it becomes bigotry (hatred and intolerance), that is when I will become upset.
  • @captivated Exactly. You can't fight for gay rights but turn around and bash someone who doesn't agree with homosexuality. It's very hypocritical.
  • @captivated you stole the words right out of my mouth "pursuit" being the key word in the sentence.

I really have no clue why its assumed I am against gay marriage because I stated what I knew of the bible and what has been instilled in me, that doesn't mean I agree with what I have been told, I was simply stating those who are against it have given me those reasons. @drgonzo523

I was actually planning my pregly proposal to @captivated last night :X
  • If you're referring to me, I wasn't bashing. She said Christians aren't being judgmental by disapproving when that's exactly what they are doing. And it's not really hypothetical either. I would never advocate for their rights to be taken away.

@Drgonzo523 nope just speaking in general :) and when I say hypocritical, I mean, supporting ones beliefs and preaching that we should accept everyone, but yet those same activists bash on the more conservative bunch for THEIR beliefs.
