&!*#% top teeth!!

My poor son! These two top teeth are giving him a time! The pain has been easily managed, with hylands, up until today....today they are hurting him so bad that the hylands aren't cutting it....I broke down and gave him a dose of Tylenol (2hours ago) and it worked for a little bit but now he is back to screaming. I wish I could take this pain for him...I know I said I would never use jack Daniels...but I think I am reconsidering....seeing him scream like that just makes my heart hurt!

  • Hmm I have never seen those. Where did you get them?
  • I just gave him Tylenol 2 hours ago, how soon can I give him ibuprofen? I will send my hubs out for both! Man it breaks my heart! He was screaming so bad he vomited the little formula he drank ...
  • Poor dude. Teething is the worst. Have you tried giving him a frozen rag to chew on? He might like the cold. (Obviously not super frozen...just get the rag damp, ring it out, and put it in the freezer until it's cold enough). Give him motrin 4 hrs after tylenol. That's usually how I alternate the two when Logan has a fever anyway.
  • @mom2ing thanks for looking that up for me! Man 2 hours is long way away...

@rtmommy ya I tried that but he hated it! He doesn't like any of the teething things we have lol..all wasted money. He did pick up his nose sucker while I was changing him and started nawing on that. So I washed it and gave it back..so far we are golden. But I am def sending hubs out for ibuprofen and humphreys.
  • @ashley_smashley u can rotate tylenol and ibuprofen every 3 hrs, thats what my lo dr and er dr said... hope ur lo gets some relief soon!! :) u can look it up on dr sears site!!!
  • @2ndbutfirst thanks! I will check it out, it's worth a try!

@0811 I just sent hubs to the store so I will keep that in mind! Thanks for the link!
  • The whiskey is the only thing that works for my son. You're not a bad mother if you use it. I dip a q tip in it and dab it on his gums. I have only used it three times though.
  • @captivated if these humphreys pellets abd ibuprofen don't work then that's next! I can't hear him cry like that any more.
  • I agree. Always try everything else first! That's what I did!
  • He just got his ibuprofen (had to wait for the Tylenol to wear off) I have a question about the humphreys tho...@mom2ing it says to dissolve in water before giving to baby...is this nessesary? Can I just give the pellets with out dissolving?
  • :'( I hate teething wait till the molars start coming in my baby has been crying too :( I gave him some tylenol
  • We use jack it works great tylenol wasn't cutting it <<LOL!
  • @salasmommy ya i heard the molars are the worst! I am sorry your LO is in pain to! Stupid teeth! Who needs'em lol! 8-|

@mom2ing ya I tried one and they dont dissolve like the hylands. No biggie! He seems to like the flavor!

@chels ya that is what my granny used for us..but I am going to refrain from useing it until i am out of options. I also heard that vanilla extract works the same way.
  • What r those tablets what do they do? He's still fussy I tried the washcloths chilled and orajel..the beads ill try anything at this point it looks like they are barely cutting through
  • They are a natural herbal pain reliever. They sell the hylands at Target, babys r us, CVS/Walgreens. The humphreys my husband got at the drug store as well.
  • @salasmommy ^^^ I hope your LO feels some relief soon!
  • Thanks ash I need to go get it ASAP!! Have u tried the tablets? I'm a little uncomfortable giving him a pain pill to chew on :-/ I suck at this
  • @bahamamama I have never heard of useing that ...I am going to look into it thanks! Also my mom was telling me she heard emu oil works for the pain...you know anything about that?

@salasmommy they are all natural so don't worry. The hylands dissolve almost immediately when they come in contact with saliva .
  • Yes that too. Both natural analgesia
  • Our doctor told us not to use oral gel(sp) because it hardens there gums and makes cutting teeth really hard. I'm just saying Idk if anyone mentioned oral gel.
  • I ya I know better than to use that. Thanks for the heads up!

It was so odd how her gums just kept bulging and the tooth finally broke through.

I was so miserable I was ready to go in with a box cutter and release those bad boys.
  • awww so adorable! @ynvtish!
  • By the way I used ibrupropine (sp), highland teething tablets, and orajel. I kept it on schedule even when she felt some relief.

The thing is you think you're out the clear when they're feeling better but when that med wears off.. its all bad again.
  • i know ya'll say to not use orajel kuz it makes their gums harder but it numbs totally.. it might make their gums harder but you can bet that they wont feel a thing. Im just sayin.. my daughters top teeth cut through and when she cries i put it on and she instantly feels better.
  • It also can be a safety hazard because it numbs their throat.
  • How do you know they're teething besides they cry? I have an 8 month old n didn't notice
  • Our drools ...I mean I had no idea one human being could produce so much drool! And he try's to chew on EVERYTHING lol..and if you look in their mouth he part of the gums where teeth come out is white. @dra765

@ynvtish did you try an amber necklace with your LO?
