Who has pets? What do you have? And how do you plan to introduce them to the baby?

I have 2 large dogs and 2 cats... and some chickens outside

  • I have 3 cats and a dog. The cats just go with the flow and my dog is reallly good with babies. I also have a 3 yr old and 8 month old girls.
  • I have 5 very very spoiled cats that already claimed the baby swing. im hoping on them being calm when I bring home my baby, lots of treats and patients:)
  • I have 3 cats ages 10,7, & 5. I'm gonna have my sis or someone bring a blanket hone from the hospital so they can get used to the smell before I come home. We used to live with my bf's brother and his girlfriend, and when she had her baby they couldn't have cared less lol...but I think it will be different cuz its me this time...
  • I had to get rid of my kitten because she peed on everything! It was sad, but I couldn't stand the smell of pee everywhere. The only other pet I have is a hamster and I think he'll adjust to the baby just fine lol.
  • I have a cat. He's big but has a very calm temperament so I'm not at all concerned about introducing baby to him. Only thing I need to do is train him not to jump into the crib. That's the only thing I'm really concerned about.
  • I have three dogs. I'm worried about one minpin, she has such a high prey drive, whenever she hears a squeak or high pitched sound from another animal, she tries to bite it! It will be a long process. I've been told it will settle down after a while then they will get anxious again when the baby starts to crawl.. we'll get through it, they're family too so they're not going anywhere.
  • @pebbles I read on pregly I think that you should add sticky tape to the crib, the cat will jump in and it will stick all over him..he won't do it a second time!
  • LOL yea, I could see my cats trying to get all up in the baby's furniture and cozy up next to baby. I will have their nails cut and filed before they meet baby and watch them every second they are near.

My younger dog is still a bit on the high energy side. He's 3.. but his temperament is great so I'm not too worried. My older dog has always been incredibly gentle so I have absolutely no worries with him. This will be the first baby though so I will be keeping a close eye on everything
  • @pebblesmommy and @suziq I've heard tin foil works too cuz they hate the way it feels...thats how my mom got hers to stop scratching her leather couch
  • My older cat is 8 and he doesn't really like anyone other than me. He hides when people come over so I am a bit worried about him
  • Thanks starrxoxo9 and suziq! I'm definitely gonna try those things.
  • No prob! I'm gonna try everything I can cuz the only place my cats like to sleep is anywhere they shouldn't! Lol
  • I have one dog and cat. I know from baby sitting for a friend of mine that my cat is amazing with babies. She let the baby pull her tail and fur and didn't care at all.
My dog is lazy and calm but he gets nervous. He didn't warm up to the baby I was watching until she snuck him some of her food when she was about 8 months. When I see him acting uncomfortable I put him in the kitchen with a baby gate. He got better as she got older. I have no clue how he will respond to my baby but I plan on doing the blanket trick
  • I have a 7yr old pitbull she is the laziest dog I have ever seen she ways 70lbs and thinks she is a lap dog. I am not sure how I am going to introduce her to baby but she loves kids.

I have 3 dogs a 50lb blue heeler mix, a 75lb wolf husky mix, and a 140lb great pyrenees mix. The only one im worried about is the heeler mix she has been my baby since the day I brought her home and im worried she may get jealous. She's also extremely neurotic and im not sure how she's going to do with a screaming crying baby. Luckily, all my dogs are extremely loving and would never hurt a fly but I foresee them spending alot of time outside at first lol. I think they will surprise me at how they deal with baby, they always do :)
  • I have one small dog planning on getting another one cuz I am afraid that with the baby my dog will be lonely she is very attached to me so I really have no idea how I am gonna introduce them... I'm afraid she might get jealous and bite
  • I have a 110 lbs bullmastif who its the sweetest thing ever just yesterday my 14 month old son was pulling at his mouth and all he did was lick him it was the cutest thing to watch her wrestles with my 3 year old all the time too

  • I Have 1 Pitt bull, Myah. She is my baby. Thank God my family members Have kids And babies she always gets around and does great! I can't wait for her to grow up with my little booger. But ima slowly let her investigate the baby. And of course no matter what kind of dog you have never leave the Baby unattended wit um!!
  • I have two cats. One will be fine as long as she is fed but, the other is extremly playful I am a little worried he will get restless and start doing bad things.
  • My younger cat is also extremely playful. He even picks on the dogs! I guess we just need to be extra careful eh?
  • My cats are very cuddly. My fear is them trying to sleep with the baby, spoiled Tommy is 14 to 15 pounds of muscle. He also was my only "baby" for a long time so he will be jealous at first. Lots of sticky tape and keeping up with their soft claws should be enough though hopefully
