Cant find the heartbeat?!?!

I am 12 weeks 2 days and I had my Dr app on Monday. He searched and searched and couldn't find the heartbeat... He then did the ultrasound and couldn't see my baby. I was almost in tears when he said they would do the vaginal ultrasound. We finally saw baby! I then was in tears. Baby was kicking and moving but why can't we hear the heartbeat yet?!?! I have a friend who heard her DD @ 8 weeks! I am really worried. Is something wrong???

    It has a lot to do with position. But if its kicking its got a heartbeat!

    I couldn't hear my babys hb til around 14 wks! He's always moving around a lot so its hard for dr to find him... but if baby is kicking all is good :)

    It's going to be different for everyone. Some people won't hear it until 14 weeks. Position is 1 reason but there are several factors. Plus, is it possible you aren't as far along as you might have thought?

    When I went for my 11wk appt they couldn't find my baby's heartbeat, either. I had an ultrasound and they sort of found it then, but the baby kept swimming away and getting any kind of reading was practically impossible. Maybe your baby is just small. Or uncooperative, lol. :)

    I'm 18 weeks, but at 16 weeks, the doc had a tough time finding her heartbeat. And its my 3 rd and I hadn't felt her, ok, so at my ultrasound , on Monday revealed I have a anterior placenta, and so it cushions her movements, but that it also covers up the heartbeat making it difficult to find. So ask your doc if you have a anterior placenta. Also are you measuring on schedule?

    I think I am measuring on schedule. I am so concerned. They want to see me again in Friday so I am hoping to ask more questions. I will definitely ask if I have an anterior placenta. Ugh. I thought the stressful part was almost over. It is very nerve racking to be pregnant.

    Apparently my little one is a joker and likes to run away from the ultrasound tech. Everytime we tried she would get it for a split second then baby would run away. I'm going to have fun chasing this one around. :)

    LOL well if its running away then you definitely have a heart beat!!!!
