Omg, it's good & it was SO easy! I sweetened it with a few dates. The only thing I didn't like was that I didn't have real vanilla beans or extract, only artificial extract. (bad, bad, bad I know)
Shaaaare your recipe! We love vanilla almond milk! Btw, I just bought a big vanilla extract bottle since I make cookies sometimes, or add a Tad to coffee.
2 c. raw almonds - cover with water & soak in frig over night, then drain them and throw in the blender with 8 cups water, 12 pitted dates, 2 vanilla beans or extract. Blend for 4 minutes, pour through cheesecloth or a strainer of some sort.
My blender isn't that big so I only made a half batch to try it out.
Wait, I think if you use the beans you're supposed to scrape the seeds out, not use the whole thing. I've never used real ones yet, but I'd love to try!
@bahamamama4828 - I'm gonna try! Thanks! So does the almond milk have all the good nutrients from the almonds still? And what do you do with the pulp? I just threw it out but I'm thinking there's got to be something to use it for?
@mama_kat chocolate fudge!! LOL no jk. I guess its all about your preferences in taste. Like adding banana for the potassium, etc.. sometimes I add cod liver oil for the vitamin a and d for my boys (they have fruit flavors! lol) you just have to look for other foods to add to your diet with vitamin D, if you dont have enough sun.
