I had puppp with my first pregnancy and begged for an induction at 41 weeks. I took something that helped me sleep and made the pain easier to deal with, and then got an epidural (well before I needed it) because they said if I waited he may not be able to come back and do it. My labor stalled-I only got to 4cm after 20 hrs-and I ended up delivering my 10lb 9oz baby by c-section. I was terrified, but recovery was easy. I scheduled a c-section with my second when they told me he'd be huge, too, and it was ok, but I wasn't really pleased with that experience. I missed having contractions, it felt totally anti-climactic. I have no idea what I'm doing this time. The epidural during contractiions was not really painful, tho. There was too much else going on. When I got the spinal block for my scheduled c-section, tho, I seriously thought I was going to die, it hurt SO BAD. But I wasn't having contractions or anything for that one, and so I had nothing else to concentrate on. Ouch!.
I'm 24 weeks, and I'm getting nervose about giving birth! the whole epideral, and the doctor close to my private parts, I'm wicked unconfertable about stuff like that, even at dr appointments lol. does that sound silly?? I'm also scared I'm gunna poop or fart while pushing. I know people say you won't care, but I feel like I will lol.
im more nervous about all the needles..im planning on a natural birth..i wanted a water birth but there aren't any places near me that have them. i am terrified of needle and i just get stressed thinking about it to where i can't sleep...ugh
@devins_mommy I'm scared I'm gonna poop too! Especially after my husband said that for all 3 of his other kids, their moms pooped during labor. Greeeeat!
Yeah I worrieda bout that with my last 2 babies. And of course all the nurses and doctors say its noraml and happens all the time. Thankfully it hasn't happened to me with my 4 babies, but who knows with this one. But oh well what can ya do, I guess if it happens it happens. I just pray it doesn't, lol.
I had both my kids natural. No drugs. The first one hurt pretty bad, not going to lie. But not unbarable. And you get breaks between contractions. My labor was text book perfect. 8 hrs with my son. Then my second was way easyer. only 5 hrs. the great thing about natural birth is I didn't have too stay for Observation more then 4 hrs. You don't use drugs the baby doesn't get drugs. So lots less to worry about. And both my kids were completely allert. Looking around, latched on and ate right away. The thought of a huge needle in my back freaked me out way more then just doing what my body was created to do.
My boyfriend really scared me about the epidural. Well not intentionally, but he told me if you move while they give it to you it could paralyze you. That terrified the crap out of me!!! So now im wondering frm those who have gone through it already....is it difficult not to move or something while they put the needle in your back? The only thing that I could think that would maybe make me move is cause of the contractions? ?? Man I am scared but not sure if I can do it naturally. 1st timer!
You have to stay perfectly still while they put it in. most women don't have an issue with it, but I worked with a woman who had it leak into her back and she had bad back issues ever since. And a friend had it done but the nurse did it wrong and she was paralyzed from the waist up! So in pain contracting while she couldn't move for a long time! Another person at work had it slip out during labor. Hurt and she got all the pain boom at once instead of gradually going into it. It just freaks me out. Women have been having babies for thousands of years with out drugs. I personally didn't want a stoned baby! Lol plus it tends to slow down the process. It has its pro's and cons but I'm glad I had mine natural and I plan on doing it again.
Honestly giving birth is easier than nine months of pregnancy...in my opinion. Sure the contractions are painful and I have had one baby with an epidural and my last delivery was one contraction away from being born in the car so there was barely time to get my pants off let alone get any pain meds...all I can say is once that baby is out you forget every month of pregnancy every contraction and any pain that you endured. Delivering without pain meds sure was alot easier to recover than after...i was walking to the nicu a few hrs later. Everyone has stories...good and bad but that man in the sky will NEVER give you more than you can handle.
Ps...you wont care nor probably ever know if you big pottied on the table or not! Lol
I have had 2 babies one natural and one with the epidural......I dont know about the natural contractions because I got hooked up to the pit with both of my boys.....I had my water break month early with both of them.....so the pit was how they started contractions and from what i understand the pit intensifys the pain.....the epidural did me no good....I have had 4 epidural in my life time and non of them have worked on me......3 for surgeries and one for the baby.....Not planning on one with this kid but like the last time i am not making a plan cause i dont follow them very well once the pain hits.... It really does hurt but as said above once the baby is born and you hold that precious one you forget everything.....it all becomes worth it.
The epidural really doesn't hurt. I had a c section with my daughter it was scheduled because they estimated her to be 9lbs+ at delivery. Yeah, I ate a lot. I went into labor on my csection date at 1230am. I had terrible back labor. In my opinion the little pinch you feel for a second is nothing like the feeling of labor. I think getting blood drawn during the whole pregnancy is worse than the quick pinch. Just my opinion but I don't think you have a thing to worry about! A csection isn't bad either. Of course recovery time is longer but at the end of the day that little person you made is totally worth it. Best of luck ladies!
@nishalovinnick He would never let me live it down haha. Then I'm sure he would tell people I pooped all over the baby or have some ridiculous exaggerated story.
I have 3 this is baby 4 on the way. I did 2 all natural and 1 with epidural. I didn't have to sit there during all the hours of contractions, STILL FELT THE URGE TO PUSH. The purpose is to ease the contractions. You are suppose to be able to feel the urge to push so you can actually push. I have done both, why lay there for hours in terrible pain?? Getting something doesn't make you weak, it is still child birth and the result is still the same. You still have to push a child out of you. You still give birth to your child. You just do not have to lay there for hours and hours in terrible pain.
Also, I was up and walking a half hour after my kids were born. So make sure you ask. Tell your doc your concerns, I had no complications from the epidural. I jumped more when they rubbed the spot where they were going to put the needle, then when they actually inserted the needle.
The epidural isnt that bad. I didnt have 2 worry about it wearing off cause the nurse replaced it when it got low. Its the contractions that hurt. I think I would have passed out if I didnt have it. My body doesnt open up wide enough and my doctor cut me both times. Im not looking forward 2 getting more stitches but I loved staying at the hospital. Lol I dont know y.
Sorry, didn't mean to scare anyone!! Just relating why I was scared of it! One of my good friends goes streight to the hospital as soon as she's in labor. Gets the epidural. She doesn't feel a thing though. Dr had to tell her when to push with all three. Didn't feel a thing. Didn't even know if she was pushing! I guess it depends on the dr you have. I am pro natural, but again I see the time and place for it. I don't think any less of anyone lol My friends kids are perfectly fine. And my labors were text book so I didn't have any complicatios. And I wasn't laying in pain for hrs. Didnt actually get that bad till the last hr or two, and I was walking around and doing things untill I got in the tub when they got strong. I agree, there is nothing like holding that baby in your arms for the first time. Pain is gone and the joy is overwhelming. And I would take labor right now over another 12, weeks of being preg!! lol
