  • I'm really of no help cuz I have never had a c-section, but I am in the same exact boat as you. I wanted a natural birth, but baby is breech for me too. I am only 33 weeks but doc has said c-section is looking more and more possible the further along I get. :(
  • ive had 3 csections, having my 4th next Sunday. I had my first because I would not dialate., and just kept gettting them since it was more convienient for me and my family. The recovery was fine each time. It depends on your toloerance for pain, but they give you meds in the hospital for that. Just make sure you get up and walk around as soon as they say your are able. It will be hard at first, but each time you do it gets easier and easier. It helps to hold a pillow against your abdomen when your are pushing up to stand. It's normal to be nervous. Just as long as you have a healthy child. I wish you luck.....sometimes they turn at the last possible minute. Take care :)
  • I agree with @prettiekittie31 get up as soon as you get feeling back in your legs and be sure to take the pain meds. The first time getting out of bed is tough, but it gets easier each time. The more you walk around, the better you'll feel. You'll be back into your routine in no time, just not running marathons anytime soon.
  • I had a csec & was fine. Like prettiekittie31 said, it just depends on your tolerance. I was up & walking fine within a few hours. The worst part is being in a car, use some padding between the seat belt & your belly because bumps suck. Other than that its not bad.
  • @emzally and @bk913 I've had two c-sections and now have to have a third. My experiences haven't been bad at all. The first was due to stalled labor, and the surgery and recovery were extremely easy. My second was planned, and that was a bit harder for me--getting the spinal block was pretty painful without the distraction of contractions, like I had when I got my epidural with my first pregnancy, and I got very nauseous and threw up a few times from the anesthesia. But it was quick, and, again, my recovery was very quick. I was home within 48 hours of delivering. This time my doctor is insisting that I not try VBAC because I've already had two c-sections and they're not willing to take the risk of a hemorrhage. After my first I was out with my son the day after we came home from the hospital, and after my second I went to a family party on my way home from the hospital. I was tired (and sore, obviously), but the pain isn't terrible. Just be sure that your driver is gentle on turns and bumps, because that can be pretty painful. The procedure itself is kind of creepy because you can feel everything that they do, but rather than feeling it as pain you feel it as pressure. And when they tell you it's time to get up and walk around you will seriously want to punch them (but definitely listen, you will feel SO much better!!). Overall it's not nearly as bad you think it will be, and in the end you will end up with a healthy baby, so that's the most important part. Your partner or coach or whomever is in the room with you will hold the baby first, and that sort of sucks, but when they move you to recovery they will give you the baby for the trip. If you have any specific questions feel free to message me. :)
  • I had a csection with my son in 08 I'm having my sec in 27 days like they all said it depends on how u handle pain. I was fine nd walkin around as soon as they said it was ok so be sure u do tht. Nd yes use a pillow or one of the hospital sheets folded when gettin up or when coughing..its gonna feel like jello at first but the pain meds help a lot..as for the ride home I cried it sukd so have a driver tht is very cautious with pumps nd turns also use the pillow when in the car. When I went home it was a lil ruff the first day but I was fine the next after figuring out how to squat slowly to sit on the toilet nd all tht stuff..I was bck to normal with in 2wks nd usually they tell u I think 8 wks but I was fine within those 2 so jst remember everyday it should get btter not worst nd good luck maybe bby will turn if not jst stay strong its all worth having a healthy lil one congrats nd keep us posted nd if u have any questions jst ask ^^ us we've all been through it..
