@leggs2011 I let my hubby eat candy without comment so long as he doesn't gain weight, he's got such a sweet tooth it is weird as I never eat it (his whole family is like that...), hope our kids won't bc I don't eat it and that is what they get during pregnancy... he is so funny though, he checks out his legs more than I do! I would call him vain, but that's how he gauges his junk intake lol.... He had the audacity to joke me for putting dark chocolate syrup on my fruit and I said, "this, or a handful of jellybellies and six thin mints?" He laughed and was like "I'll be quiet now" he's funny
@Leggs2011 I think it is great that you feed your daycare kids healthy things! I am teacher and I use to work in daycares in college. I am happy you also give healthy treats as rewards but wouldn't it be better to give them stickers? I was always told using any food as a reward is not good. I have to admit I have done it myself but I try to use other things most of the time. I think all that you are doing is great and far more than others! Just thought I would put that suggestion out there.
Fast food is only a treat for good behavior and play land gives my kids something to do in the winter Ohio. In my town there is literally no indoor play places within 30 min from me. I make it very clear its not healthy to eat all the time but once in awhile is OK.

At home a different story no highfructose corn syrup no artificial flavoring/coloring and stay away from all processed food we remain as natural as possible at home. No soda no chips no junk..... although my pregnancy cravings have made me cheat a little LOL
I remember eating mcdonalds as a kid but back then everyone played outside and didn't sit in front of the tv for hours and hours. That was only 15 yrs ago but so much has changed since then! Kids have gotten lazy. And yeah fast food isn't so great first of all but parents hardly cook these days so that's all the kids eat. But I admit ever since.I've gotten pregnant I've eaten more fast food then ever but im still pretty active and have.only gained 28 lbs.so far at 36 wks. Both my husband are active duty military so we have to remain pretty active in the first place too.
@momaynot I honestly tried stickers. I bought a potty training book for each kid I had and it came with a chart and stickers. But none of them got real excited about the stickers. But the fruit snacks was a hude hit. Id give them half a package if they sat there and tried. And the whole package if they actually went potty.
@ghettobetty. I could def deal w/ no chips. My husband is eating them as I type! He always has chips in the house. Either dorito, potato w/ dip, or chips and cheese.. like gah stop eating crap!
I actually craved a damn chicken ceasar salad.. who does that? Lol. I HATE salads. Well lettuce. But I make my salads with tons of veggies and boiled eggs to add flavor.
@kayliegh27 where are you both located? My husband is stationed at fort hood. It sucks here. He doesn't work out like he used to. So even w/ pt he has gained some belly weight. But he still brags how he is faster then everyone.
@ghettobetty. Where at in ohio? I used to live in east palestine near youngstown/akron.
@leggs2011 well you gave it a try and you know yours kids best. At least it is a healthy reward. I wish all daycare would take your lead. It is hard when you are not there and you have to trust who you leave them with.
@momaynot I've used bananas and apples too. One of the kids absolutely loves fruit and most veggies. So he's easy to please. Lately he's had no accidents and tells me when he has to go potty. He no longer asks for treats. Its crazy. I find so many people don't care who watches their kids. I've had 3 moms in the past week drop off their kid/kids w/o even having a previous interview. I could never just drop off my baby w/o a second thought.
The one kid I used to watch would get dropped off at 5:30am and be picked up at 5:30pm. The dad is a soldier and the mom didn't even work at the time! After 5 months she finally got a job and he goes to predchool. She said they were going to try for another baby. Smh
I think it's good to teac h kids to eat healthy most of the time.but if they have a happy meal once in a while it's not going to hurt them. The meat is protien ,the ketsup and onion are in the vegetable group, the potatoes and bread are carb, and c'mon...a kid can have a rare soda. But I knew of a day care ctr. That had every kid eating top ramen or hotdogs every day. All of the kids woulnt even eat peas or anything else that resembled a veggie. It was sad.my kids like veggies anything. Because I raised them with healthy food. We shouldnt judge others though because u never know what they're struggling with. Sometimes peeps is just doin the best they can and haven't had good examples.
@rhondala71 did you ever watch that video on youtube and the news how fast food breaks down? A real potato got icky in like 2 days. Mcdonalds fries last like 4 months and only dried out. That video has def changed my mind on eating fast food often.
hopefully having a child will help me make better choices myself. I know that I usually eat out on my lunch break instead of eating home cooked meals or premade food, and often that means fast food. I dont plan on feeding my child fast food, so it will make it much easier on me to prepare my own food with theirs
