I'll be 38 weeks monday and im having a baby boy (Hunter Elijah Davisson) I plan to get him circumsized.. I was just wondering are you or are you not and why??
i have two boys and niether one is cercumsised there is no medical reason why boys need to be circumsized.. in addition, there alot more moms opting out.. then about ten years ago.. being dirty.. makes you dirty not.. being circumsized.. theyre not more likely to get infection.. another thing.. i have never understood the problem with an uncircumsized penis .. you could be cutting off and inch of an erection.. im just saying.. the skin disapears when the man is hard..
We are having a girl but if we were to have a boy we would not. Staying clean is something you learn so infection would not be a worrie. In most country this is not a normal practice. Why would you sacrifice your son sexal plessure as an adult just so he matches his buddy in the locker room as a teen. And a lot of parents are opting out so it will not be that unusal when their a teen anyway.
Honestly, I know this is a very personal issue and a hotly debated one. My boys are not circumcised and it is not a procedure I would EVER subject one of my babies to. There are so many myths regarding cleanliness, std transmission, tradition and so much more that it can be hard to separate the facts from the truth. The US is one of the only countries that routinely circumcises infant males. I think it is important to consider that female circumcision is called genital mutilation and the procedure isn't that much different in terms of the amount of nerve endings that are removed.
For those that are truly interested I suggest nocirc.org for good information. There are also videos of the procedure being done available in the web. Watching those will sometimes help make the decision for those on the fence. Like I said, circumcision is a very personal issue but, for me, I prefer to leave my babies bodies as whole and unmodified as the moment they are born. The body is designed to work perfectly and I see no reason to damage it for cosmetic reasons.
I agree @huneybee my sons getting circumcised and it bugs me when people say its their choice to get it done but when they are babies they dont remember it being cut. When they are older they will.. You choose everything else for your child why not this too? My fiance is very glad that his mom got him circumcised too.
If I have a son I will opt not to... cleanliness is up to parents first then teach children good hygiene... you would teach your daughters to be clean... I used to think it would be better to circumcise, after seeing it done... no way I would put my newborn son through that... Everyone has a different opinion, I respect that!!
I totally agree with @lae3.... My hubby is not circumsized and I've been with men that are and men that arent.... From personal experience, i think my hubby enjoys sex more than the men that are, that i've been with.... There are no problems with infections and STD's.... I did A LOT of research on this topic because I'm having a boy and want to make the best educated decision for him.... The percentage of boys in the US getting circumsized is now close to 50/50, so by the time my son grows up, there would and shouldn't be any problems being sexually "embarassed"... If a "woman" doesn't want to be with him because of his penis, than she aint the right one for him.... Right? With proper cleanliness tought to any boy, uncut or cut, there shouldn't be any problems... Just giving you my reasons as to why I'm not having my boy circumsized... Everyone has thier own reasons as to why they are or aren't, so I'm not judging...
I disagree with people who say there are not health benefits or cleanlieness issues when not cicumcised. My mom has worked in surgery for over 20 years and does a lot of urology surgeries. She and many of the doctors she works with say that men that are not circumcised are much more prone to infections from not staying clean and also tend to have many more issues when they are an adult. Our son is now 7 and his was done when he was a couple of weeks old. We never had any problems with keeping it clean or any infection after. I think that it is a personal decision for the parents to make, but comparing it to female genital mutilation or saying that they could lose some size is kind of silly...at least in my opinion!
My 3year old is circumcized and so will this one be. My husband is and hubby wanted it for his son. Honestly its a personal decision. My cousin didn't have her boys circumized and they are very clean and still got infections and they boys opted to get circumcized atg age 9 and 10 and honestly prolly more of a fuss then doing it to a baby that won't remember.
@hunybee what I mean is when a boy is circumcised they loose nerve endings that lessen sexal plessure. I know most women say guys get off easy enough but I don't want to be the one to take anything like that away. My husban is not circumcised. To be honest I didn't really even notice the diffrents when we were first together because I never saw it limp. lol sorry if that is TMI.
