Advice/Help Needed- possible mc?

I'm 11 weeks today with my 2nd pregnancy . I have my 1st ob appt tomorrow and also am a diabetic on insulin. I've started spotting bright red blood with some clotting and moderate cramping. I called the hospital and spoke to an ob nurse who said that unless I start bleeding like a period, there's no need to be seen tonight and just keep my appt tomorrow. Is this bad? I had no spotting or cramping w/ my 1st pregnancy and have never lost a pregnancy. I'm trying not to panic but I've heard that brownish blood is ok but bright red is not. Advice please?

  • Sometimes spotting and cramping can occur after sex. Maybe if you could lay down for a little bit, relax and drink some water and check your sugar, it might help and put your mind at ease. I would say that if it becomes more than light-mild spotting or very severe cramping, go to the hospital. Good luck hun.
  • Can't give you advice hun but hope every thing ok and you do what you feel is right if you feel you want to go in and get checked over then go they can't refuse to see you
  • I'd go to hospital just to be safe but that's just me, only cuz of the clots and bright
  • A miscarriage is intense; if you being bleeding and cramping times 10, then I would be concerned. Like misskristin said, I would also suggest resting and taking care of your needs. Typically many women spot and cramp during pregnancy without any mc.
  • The clotting and bleeding would concern me as well. Do you have any fibroids? I started spotting about 2 weeks ago & the doctors found a few fibroids. I'm 10 + 5. If you're worried after you've rested for a bit then go to the ER.
  • Bright red and clotting doesn't sound okay. Doesn't always mean something is wrong but I think you should just take it easy until your appt tomorrow. No need to run in today. I hope all is well.
  • I bled bright red and they told me to immediately go into the ER, unfortunately they will not tell you much because if you are having a mc or are going to mc there is nothing that can be done to prevent it. Just take it easy and rest up, and if it makes you feel better go into the ER.
  • I also had clotting.
  • I would say just wait til your appt. If it is a mc the hospital wont do anything for you anyway.
  • I had some bright red bleeding in mar they did a u/s and found out that i had a subchronic hemmorage. I was limited on what i could do and rest as much as possible. I am hoping it has healed.
  • Thanks to everyone, I appreciate your input. @TishJ330, to the best of my knowledge, I don't have any fibroids or anything abnormal going on female wise. I also haven't had sex in a week and have yet to get a pap done. It's my understanding that both things can cause harmless spotting. I'm going to chill with my feet up for a little longer but most likely will be seen tonight for my own peace of mind. Thanks again everyone :)
  • Good luck! If it makes you feel any better I had no probs with my 1st and have had lots of brown and red bleeding as well as cramping but baby is ok. I was told that bleeding and cramping are sometimes common in 2nd pregnancies because your body already knows what to do and is doing it
