It sounds like sciatica or some other pinched nerve. Try a heating pad on your lower back/upper hip area (maybe 15 minutes every few hours or when it's bothering you) and make sure that the chairs that you sit in have adequate lumbar support. If they don't, roll a small towel and place it just above your butt (at your lower back) when you sit--especially in the car. Hip rolls can help, too (you just sit straight and roll your hips forward and backward). And don't cross your legs when you sit.
