where is your new baby going to sleep??

edited June 2011 in Pregnant
We live in a two bed room apartment and have no idea where baby will sleep. My husband thinks baby should sleep in our room but I dislike the idea. I like the idea of being close for breastfeeding, but I hate the idea of never having sex again Haha.
our daughters room is very small, and I wouldn't want the baby to sleep in there with her anyway, for safety resons. I was thinking I could turn my home office into a baby corner, but its in the dining room.
anyone else in a similar situation?
Where is your baby sleeping?

  • my baby is sleeping in our room for the first 3 months or so then to her room. i dont want to walk across the house in the middle of the night
  • Our baby is going to sleep in our room until she sleeps through the night then she is moving in with her brother in his room.
  • In our room till we live alone, then she'll have her own room.
  • We also have a two bedroom but the baby will sleep in our room in a bassinet for a couple of mths

  • In my room with a crib
  • Baby will sleep in our room for about 5 months then move to her sisters room right next to ours :)
  • She'll be sleeping in the awesome co-sleeper I got until she sleeps through the night and then she'll move to her crib :)
  • Everyone sleeps with baby in the room?? How does that effect your sex life?
we had a very very rocky sexy life in the beginning because of my past and then when I got pregnant with our first it got worst...it got much better within the past year and I would HATE for it to get ruined again! :(

  • lol baby isnt going to know your having sex!!
  • Our baby will be in an in-between sleeper co-sleeper until she's ready for her own bed.
When the baby is asleep they are none-the-wiser to your intimacy. Having our first in our room actually made our sex life better & more interesting; it forced us to sometimes look beyond the confounds of our bed & be creative... it's never been better! ;)
  • My first slept in her playpen in our room until she was 11 months. She went in her own room with no problems. Our second is now a week old, she is sleeping next to us in the bassinet until she is closer to a year just like her sister. We are intimate in the living room or in our bed quietly cause she wont be right next to our bed.
  • @mommy2isaiahngiselle I feel uncomfortable about that... its probably just me.. how do you get over the fact that baby is in there??
  • i do agree with @Proudmommy8789 baby won't know we will still be intimate with baby in the room she will be in her own bassinet although sometimes its just nice to switch it up in the living room *wink wink*
  • My sister had the dame uncomfort. So iys not just you.
  • Forgive the typos, idc to fix em' lol
  • With my first she slept in a dresser drawer at the end of our bed because she was sooo little but that was just two weeks then when my nerves subsided she moved to her crib!
  • when I was born my parents had a small apartment and they turned their hall closet into a nursery, Haha I know its strange, and don't worry they took the doors off... I do have a pretty nice sized hall closet but I don't think I like that idea

  • our baby will sleep in her own room. this is #3 and somehow we got a small house that has 4 dinky bedrooms- but a room is a room, right? we are thankful.
for you, have you thought about putting the crib in your daughter's room and getting a net (kinda for toddlers who attempt to constantly climb out of crib, etc). it goes on top of the crib. that way you won't have to worry about your other little one finding ways to put things in the crib or taking the baby out, etc. I keep the baby in her crib during day naps and at night she will be in the bassinet beside me, in our room. this way i can breastfeed in the night, she sleeps, i sleep better knowing i can hear if something goes wrong and after 3 months, whether we are ready or not, baby has to go in crib. (since the bassinet is only made for babies up to 3 months, or before)
  • @survivormommie3 my daughters bedroom is far far to small... she has just enough space for her toddler bed, dresser, toy box and desk... :( like you said very very small room!!
  • I'm keeping the baby in my room too. We only have two bedrooms and my older daughter starts school in the fall, so I don't want them sharing until Emily sleeps through the night.

If they are in their bassinette, its not like they can sit up and see what's going on, but if you're uncomfortable, you could always let baby sleep in the pack n play in the dining room on nights you want to be intimate. I don't think I could have sex if we were cosleeping, but it didn't bother me when she was asleep in her bed in the same room.
  • @laura536 if our house wasn't so small id totally do that.. but we just don't have the space..
I thought id be able to convince hubby to move when we found out..but no luck! :(
  • Since we have a 1bedroom appt, she is going to sleep in a crib in our bedroom. Hopefully by the time she is ready for a toddler bed, or we have another one... We will move too a bigger place.
