Trisomy 18

My quad screen came back abnormal. The Dr said my baby could have Trisomy 18 but she said the sreening is only 60 percent accurate. I'm horrified. Its just so upseting. I go on the eighth for an anatomy ultrasound and to get an amnio so we can know for sure. Then we get the results like 10 days later. The Dr told us we need to consider terminating the pregnancy if the results are positive for Trisomy 18. =( . Idk what were gonna do. But this sucks. I hope for the best of course but its so hard not to think of the worst or even not to expect it.

Im sorry, hun!! My prayers are with you and baby! I had to get an amnio because they thought my girl had downs syndrome. I know how stressful the worry can be but try and stay as positive as possible until you get those results.

Are the quad screens the ones that give off a lot of false positives? I wiish you luck and I am hoping things go well for you.

@kalikojenie 4 out of 5 positive screenings are false positives,

Just try and focus on the fact that the test is not always accurate! They had my friend miserable or two weeks!! They pushed her soo hard to terminate. And then she found out it was fine.
I say try your very hardest to remain positive until you know for sure!! I will be praying for you!!

Well four out of five false positives means that they could potentially be 80% wrong! I'm hoping it is wrong for you.

I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this! Let's hope this test was a false positive! This happened to a friend of mine. She decided not to terminate and she ended up delivering her son at 27 weeks. He did have Trisomy 18. He lived for about 8 hours before he passed. There are plenty of support groups out there...know that you are not alone.

Thank y'all so much . Four out of five definetly gives me hope! @rockinmamma was your baby healthy? @dueinaugust11 I'm 20 weeks right now. My sisters b day is August 11th .. THANK YOU ALL so so much. Its nice to know y'all are out there and care. And its even nicer to know y'all will pray for my baby too. @OregonMama I will update when I finally find out

I think there is a utube video some parents made for their baby that had trisomy 18... I beleive his name was elliot. It was on the today show a while ago. I could b totally wrong but i think thats what it was. Good luck hun. Many prayers for u and baby. Im sure everything will b alright. Those tests seems be wrong most of the time.

Yes my amnio results came back that she is completely healthy as far as chromosomal/ genetic problems go, and let me tell you it was the most amazing feeling getting those results back! I literally jumped up and down for joy
