:( I dont know what to think! Please pray:( update***

I went in today to the doctor. My family has a history of microcephaly which is small head and brain. Out of four children my mother had I was the olny one with out it. So im 30wks according to the ultrasound today. & last months ultrasound was good. This time though my baby girls head is not the "normal" shape. Its more oval like. If you were to be looking down at her head from forehead to back/ neck. So im worried that something might be wrong:( the specialist said that her head is more football shaped and that shes not sure if theres anything wrong because it could go both ways. Im just really stressed and terrified that there might be something wrong with her. Ill love her the same but why me:( everything else looks good her anatomy is great and her brain is good too its just the shape so thats the good thing. Please keep my little girl in your prayers.I need advise words of wisdom and anything that will help... my next growth scan isnt till augh 26 so its a long wait which will kill me:( thank you ladies.

UPDATE***
So I'm officially 34 weeks and heart broker: ( my little Gianna Itzel has a higher risk for microcephaly & is showing some signs:( I'm so scared with this I'm officially HIGH RISK & I don't know what to think:( I don't want to lose hope. I just don't want her to suffer like my siblings (seizures, mental retardation, speech problems, everything else) ill love her the same like I say & bf & I are just so nervous for these upcoming weeks:( please keep my little girl Gianna. In your prayers & I just hope for the best.
God bless all my preglys!
Next ultrasound is Sep 16

  • Your in my prayers! Just remember that God has a plan and he will take care of both of you. I have to remind myself of this often. Its hard to let someone else take the reins when its your child, but remember s/he was God's child first and loves him/her as much as you!
  • In my thoughts and prayers.
  • If she's healthy and the problem is just the shape, I wouldn't stress yourself out. Its bad and stress can cause problems with brain development. Stay positive and don't Psyche yourself out. It isn't good for you or baby.
  • Prayers sweetie. I know it must be scary. >:D<
  • you both are in my thoughts and prayers
  • I had the same thing told to me when I was pregnant with my oldest. But it just turned out being she didn't have alot of room. When she was born her head looked a little weird but was normal a few weeks later.

  • I'm praying for u hun

  • @FiirstTiimeMommy2b I'm glad everything turned out good for you, mama. :) 9 days before my daughter was born by scheduled c-section, the doctors said there were problems with her head size and her ventricles were dilated... When she was born, she was diagnosed as microcephalic. We don't know what caused it... still waiting on the genetic test results. What caused it in your family? Do you know? Like, was it a specific gene or an infection or something else?
  • @OregonMama @Mrs4c @Momma_erica. @pinkbaby0930 Thank you so much! :) and @Mythica :( I'm sorry mama she's still a blessing:) and I have a family history of microcephaly and its only happened with my parents 1out of 4 babies that my Mom had I was the only one "normal" and they did tests on my family the cause is unknown yet the specialist told me today there's two ways of diagnosing microcephaly via ultrasound and after birth but its not an infeccion its nothing that's your fault it could be genetic though my case is unknown because microcephaly hits one baby in every 1000 families so we have three very rare. Ill keep Your baby in my prayers and hope its nothing dramatically bad keep me updated on the results as they are keeping my baby girl under close supervision and running tests on her at birth. I hope all goes well for your family and if you need to vent or anything I'm here for you I have dealt with microcephaly with my siblings my whole life and its tough but a blessing in the end be strong!
  • I will pray for u...stay strong and pray as a well! Good luck mama!
  • @FiirstTiimeMommy2b She's 3 weeks old today... when she was born, they did an ultrasound through her soft spot, and it came back inconclusive. When she was 7 hours old, they did an MRI and it came back inconclusive, too. They drew her blood and we're waiting on the results from that... the preliminaries came back and said that it wasn't trisomy 13 or 18, both of which are the most severe genetic causes that result in a lifespan from a few days to potentially a year and nothing more. Other than that, we're still waiting. She has to continue seeing a neurologist, her first appointment is on the 27th. We got really lucky because she only spent 2 days in the NICU, and came home with us on day 4. So far, she's acting exactly as she should as a newborn. She is, however, hitting milestones that are advanced. At 1 week, she was gripping things (a 1 month milestone). At 15 minutes old, she was holding her head up like a champ while laying on her back. At 2 days old, she would turn her head to look at something that was making a sound and stare until the sound stopped (2 month milestone), and now she will track a sound by turning her head to follow it. I'm not sure what it all means, but I am taking it as a good sign.

Thank you, though, very much. :) I'll definitely keep in touch! I thought I was the only one on Pregly going through the Micro problem, but it's good to know I'm not alone!
  • Congrats thats great news!!! I'm so happy that everything is good! :) :)
  • I'm so happy to hear your good news congratulations!
