f your milk turns pink it could be a caused by a bacterial disease called "Serretia marcesens", and if untreated it can be fatal. But Strong antibiotics should take care of it. I just saw a special on it on a TV program called Mystery Diagnosis, that airs on the discovery channel. Go to your doctor and have them test your milk (It's called culturing your milk). Chances are that the baby could be suffering from it too if it has been drinking your milk. So make sure that you both are tested.
That happens with pumping. It's just a little blood. Anything you pass to baby in blood can be passed in breast milk so it's still safe to feed to your baby.
Yes its safe. It could also be from ducts not used before. Or something you ate. If it was pumped, the pump could have been a little harsh if that makes sense. Sorry its almost midnight my fingers don't wanna type what my brain thinks lol
@Bahamamama4828 yeah, this is the first time it was ever pink and it was only my right boob. Also as soon as I start the pump, I turn it to the highest level because it doesn't hurt me but I guess I need to stop doing that X_X
I got that a few times pumping and it was just a little blood. I had an abundance of excess milk so I felt weird about feeding him the pink stuff if I didn't need to lol
