Chamomile Tea

edited October 2011 in Babies
Hi Pregly. Just wanted to share my experience with chamomile tea on my fussy 2 almost 3 week old son. He's been showing signs of colic at night so his pediatrician suggested 2-3 ounces before his bed time and its the first night in a while that we have all slept and had no mid night screaming and fussing... @jazzi89, it may be worth a try for your fussy little one. Hope this helps someone like it has for us.

  • Wow its okay to give them chamomile tea? I have a 2week old boy & he is very fussy
  • @clope18
his pediatrician suggested it at his appointment and its like I have a brand new baby. It's an all natural brand and smells really nice. I added a small tsp of sugar and he literally slept the night away
  • I have never given it to my newborn but my almost 2 yr old loves it
  • it helped his little tummy pass so much gas last night... good stuff
  • Oh wow I wouldve nvr even thought of tea. Ill havr to try that thank you!
  • @k_babix0 my pedi told me to mix 1oz tea with 1oz of formula/breastmilk...did yours say to give it to him as straight tea? My 3 week old son is terribly gassy and I didn't notice a difference when I gave him the tea.

Also, my pedi said to give 2 tablespoons karo syrup in 2oz breastmilk/formula if the baby hasn't pooped in 4 days as an fyi to anyone who may be interested in that for constipation.

she told me to give it to him alone as a feeding. it really worked and its got him pooping and farting
  • @jazzi89
your welcome :) I really hope it works
  • My MIL gave it to my daughter last week and at first I was furious but then started researching it and its fine. My daughter was so relaxed and calm for about two days.
  • Great thread! I'm so trying that tonight :)))
  • Wow I'm so gonna try this. I always have chamomile tea at home cuz I drink it all the time. Do u give it to ur baby every night? & how much should I give him?
  • Would I still feed him formula for that feeding, or would the tea be his meal?
  • I make his formula with the tea instead of water. His poop might turn greenish but that's ok. Usually I only use the tea at night when he's a little more fussy.
  • for now I've fed him just the tea with about 2 ounces and then fed him and ounce of formula but I've seen that ladies are mixing it with formula and that sounds like I good idea b/c he was still wanting more formula even after having 2 oz of tea and 1 oz of formula @clope18

    @misspreggo
I think I'm gonna try it your way tonight, that sounds more practical to me than two separate bottles like I was doing but I do prefer giving him breastmilk so Idk how ill work it out
