  • My mom had a foster child that was adhd n had some other problems but she was medicated. Y is she suggesting that she is add/adhd? Is she having trouble focusing? Is she being disobedient?
  • My nephew just was diagnosed with it a few months ago. He's only 5. My SIS don't want to put him on meds either. Doc told her diet can help a lot. Low sugar & balanced meals with lots of veggies. Also, get a routine. Same routine everyday, so try to put her on a schedule. Thats what her doc recommend
  • My nephew is almost 9 an he has it he has it be medicated we noticed his around the age of 5 I think if she had it u wuld of done been able to notice but heres the symptoms my nephew has if not on his meds he runs all the thru the house he flips off the furniture he stays up most the nite stays n trouble at school gets a really bad smart mouth an yells a lot at like his lil sister an stuff hes very very wild but we noticed it along time ago
  • I agree with the previous lady that you should try changes to your LOs diet. It won't be an over night change but cutting sugar should help drastically!
  • Diet does help a lot. Avoid preservatives, sugar, artificial dies. Stick to a strict schedule. If its minor ADD ADHD it should work. My son needed meds as much as i hated it though
  • Dyes not dies lol
  • My son is medicated but he's also bipolar. I knew a parent who followed diet...i think it was Feingold diet or something. She said that her child was cured just by following this diet.
  • I have it and was medicated until I was in high school when my dad noticed that I was not my self.. It was hard at times but then it was easy.. What my dad did was reworded me with a treat when I did good.. for example if I did my homework before dinner then after dinner he would take me to get ice cream
  • feingold or gaps diet.
although we cut out the meat and dairy. cut out all food dyes and processed food and try to buy fruitd/veggies from a stand rather than a store
  • Thank ladies. Well, my daughter is in 1st grade. Shes just turning 7 yrs old. She has problems focusing, paying attention, easily distracted and very impulsive. We already have her on a very strict routine at home. I know diet affects it a lot and we have been working on that forever. Shes the pickiest eater ever... But we r always working on it. Shes very smart but shes not getting the grades she needs to b getting and we r all thinking this may b the issue. Im going to make an appt w her doc. I guess im not totally against the meds as long as they dont change her... Know what i mean? If they can help her focus w school then im all for it as long as there r no scary side affects. I just want the best for her. No one ever wants to hear that there might b something "wrong" w ur child. :( ugh...
  • Hm. I would definitely not go by what the teach says. 7 year olds are not perfect. It usually takes a specialists months to come to a definite diagnosis. My daughter has ADHD and is not medicated. Her teacher says she's normal..yet the specialist (who spent months coming to our home to evaluate her) says she's got it. Some teachers just prefer not to handle "troubled" kids. Maybe that teacher isn't challenging the child's skills enough, so your kid gets bored easily. My 6 year old's ADHD is controlled solely by eliminating certain dyes from her diet. She is basically "cured".
  • My younger son was diagnosed with adhd in september. They put him on medication called focalin. She had to change his meds because he rebounded and started tearing our house up and getting tired at about 5 p.m.. She told me to stop giving him the meds and is putting him on concerta. Sometimes teachers put labels on children and just want them drugged up so they dont have to deal with them. I would def have her diagnosed though. Praying for her. If you need any more advice hun let me know. Its not easy whe children are going through that.
