constapation issues

edited March 2012 in Babies Health
My daughter just turned 1 in february she was a preemie at 33 weeks. I breastfed for 2 months my milk suppply was getting low so I stopped and she was put on simalic neosure. Since then she had issues with pooping I told her Dr. But she said since she was a preemie she needed those calories. I thought maybe it would go away when we switched to enfamil premium well it didn't she had even more issues her poop was really hard her butt would stretch so much and be stuck she would scream. Well then she started having a little bit of blood in her poop I told her dr. They checked and said it probably just ripped and to start adding karyo syrup that didn't help. No that she has switched to regular milk its still happening they gave her medicine but its not working I hate seeing her in so much pain what should I do?

  • Try 30ml of warm water with a1/4 teaspoon of brown or raw sugar dissolved in it. This can be given regularly and our son who is 5 months has it every second day or he gets the same.
  • Awesome I will try it im just so tired of her hurting and so uncomfortable
  • Also since she is over 1 you could probably dilute some prune juice with water.
  • Liquid or powder probiotics! Plus what they said ^^^ also flax oil

Try switching from cow milk, it could be an intolerance to whey or it could be a lactose issue.
  • Ahh yes coconut, almond or hemp milk :)
