pissed baby fell on head

Ok so we have one of those space saver swings that are very low to the grown. I told my mother in law not to leave my son alone with it with out a seat belt on cuz he sits up in it and falls over. Right now she did just that. I was in my room putting clothes away and cleaning it and all I hear is this crazy ass scream so u run to the living room. I saw the swing on so I already knew what happened. She tryed and said he jumped out of it while she was sitting their with him. Ok ummm no I don't think so cuz if you were right their you would of saw what he was doing and stooped it. I know babies fall but I tell her all the time and she never wants to pay attention to me and so what she wants. He is getting a little bump and its getting a little red. It's a throw rug on hard wood floor and its still really hard if you fall so he also has a burn on his face under is eye and nose. It's was also close to his nap time so he went to sleep but he's laying next to me so I can watch him. Am fuming right now that am shaking. Should I take him in to get checked????

  • I would probably make sure he doesnt fall asleep. Not good after hitting head. I would just place a call to see what dr says.
  • I think so he sleeping right now but took awhile to calm him down @armahnismommy
  • @hodgeslangdon Damn should I want him up then. Why is it bad for them to fall asleep?

  • Keep him up.
  • @angie87 thats what I was told by previous drs. My son had a bump on his head like that and he was fine. I would maybe put ice on it if he could handle it.
  • My daughter fell off our couch on sunday. Watch his pupils and eyes for bloodshot eyes is what i read. I also read to watch for excessive sleepiness
  • If it wasn't that far from the ground he should be fine just keep an eye on him
  • I hate when people do mot listen to you snout YOUR child! Aghhh! I hope he is ok.
  • That's really odd. My daughter crawled off the bed at 4 months and the medics told me to let her sleep, but to wake her every half hour or so. And her boo boo was a huge dent in her head!
  • Ahhhh. 'Tis and old wives tale to not let them sleep I've just found. Short article about it here: http://www.babycenter.com/404_should-i-let-my-baby-fall-asleep-after-hes-had-a-serious-fal_12349.bc

  • Malia has fallen off the bed twice, now that she knows how to get around. (Bed is only touching the wall on my/malias side, no frame) First time, she woke up before us & fell off the head off the bed. She screammmed, i felt sooo bad! Second time her and I were napping & she woke up and crawled over me. She hasnt learned her lesson cause she still lunges, lol.
  • Go with ur gut feelings if you want/need to call the Dr even for ur oen peace of mind then do it. I have hard woof floors too and im always scared my lo will hit her head(most all babies do) so I wantrd to share with you what I do. You know those really thick, soft blankets that have pictures on them like tigers lions horses etc. We had a queen sized onr and I use it as her play area. Just throw a sheet over it and its cushy likr carpet. Just thought I would share with you for future. Maybe ur mil will listen next time
  • When a baby falls on their head you're suppose to keep them up for an hour b/c they can can get a concussion
  • Thank you @everyone. I called the Doctor and food me to monitor him and if anything in his behavior isn't normal to go in. He's fine now I woke him up from his nap and he just cried the whole time I keep him up so I just put him back to sleep and woke up like nothing happened . Thank you for commenting on my post I was really scared
  • My son fell face first into my laptop the other day and hit the corner. I flipped out, his forehead where he gut immediately turned blue and swelled up. I called the pediatrician and they told me to keep him awake for a couple hours just to monitor him, watch his eyes, throwing up, etc. It was right before nap time too, it was a struggle to keep him awake. Then I just couldn't anymore, after about an hour he just passed out and he didn't want to wake up. Now he's just got a bruise :( but all is good. I have the same problem with hubby not listening to safety issues! Drives me absolutely insane! He doesn't think Damien can do anything to hurt himself cuz he's just a baby.... News flash! He rolls and moves around and babies get hurt all the damn time! But my fil... Now he's just one of those "I raised kids and they are perfectly healthy so I'm gonna do everything my way!" yeah, my son hasn't been there in weeks and can only go over there now if hubby or I are there to supervise! Glad your lo is OK!
