Is it bad that I'm jealous? :/

When i read all these stories of babys crawling? Rolling over? Sitting up? I have a friend who's baby is 7months and walks if he's pushing something. I mean my lo is happy and healthy but not hitting the marks. She doesn't do anything no matter how hard i work with her. I love her to death. But im tired of crying and being jealous.

  • I hear ya! Mine is almost 6 mo and just started rolling. She still has trouble holding her head and still can't sit unless super supported. :/
  • Itll come when she is ready. My 4yr old didnt sit up until he was 9mo old. He didnt walk until he was 15mo old.. They all learn at diffrent paces.. Enjoy it cause they dont stay little long..

  • Mine sits, in her bumbo. Mine rolls, only to a side some. And mine can turn and scoot on her back. She can't hold any weight on her legs. And she's 6 months. If i put her on her tummy she just lays there kicking one leg up and down like she's bored.

She goes for her 6month tomorrow and im gonna ask about Early Childhood Intervention evaluation. I had one done with my son. But my bd has aspergers and i think my lo may have inherited it. Im not sure.
  • My son never put weight on his legs either.. We took him to a neurologist, but he was fine as could be.. He just didnt wanna do anything until he was ready

  • My son has aspergers and he hit most milestones pretty much on time. I only noticed he was different when he was supposed to start talking. he didn't start til he was 3 and then it was repetitive and not expressive. he would also cry when strangers talked to him. I think your girl is just developing on her own schedule :) but def mention your concerns to your Dr it will make you feel better :)
  • My girl isnt crawling or completlu rollin over either. She turned 7 months two days ago
  • My son was crazy fast, crawling by 5.5 months.... My daughter is now almost 6 months and only rolling and to be honest I love it. She is staying my little baby a bit longer. If I was really concerned I would get her checked but I know she is just lazy she will do it when she is ready
  • How did your appt go?

Btw my daughter is 8 months and still isn't crawling and she didn't roll over both ways til almost 6.5 months.
  • 15lbs 14oz
    26 1/4in
    head 42cm

Dr isn't too concerned yet but told me i HAVE to get an exersaucer or jumperoo so bd ordered a jumperoo today. By her next appointment if she's still behind he wants her evaluated.
  • Don't feel bad about being jealous. My god daughter came out with long gorgeous red hair. Hormonal me almost cried over it. Since my bf has red hair, I was hoping shed get it. I'm still sad about it to this day! :(

  • As an occupational therapist, sometimes you have to encourage and facilitate a child's movement or action so you know what they are capable of. Even at that it may take a little while for your LO to get the hang of it. Enjoy working and playing with your child and stay focused on their accomplishments so far, however large or small.
  • I was told by my pediatrition that the "chunky ones take time to start crawling and walking" my LO didn't roll around until almost 4 months. Sit up til 6 months and start crawling until almost 9 months. Now at 11 months shes barely starting to stand up while holding on to something. But my SIL kid was crawling by 5 months and my friends kid was walking by almost 9 months. I was jealous too and felt guilty because i work full time and was thinking "what if its my fault my daughter isnt doing those things because im hardly there for her?!" It was starting to worry me that mine wasn't doing the same even though I know every baby is differnet. If your Dr isn't concerned right now than I would try not to worry about it. Just keep working with her and she"ll get the hang of it :)
  • my daughter is 6 months next week and doesnt roll At ALL. She hates tummytime and isnt pushing up on her arms yet either, but just started sitting a little on her own. Shes doing it all on her own schedule, not mine...
  • My son will be 7 months next week. I was so worried but within two days of each other he rolled over (to steal a toy from a little boy I watch) then the next day he sat unsupported very shortly while reading them a book! I never thought he was going to.
  • Lol im jealous bc Nyla is going to b 7 months n she doesnt know how to flip Or crawl :( but she is sitting up now yay :)
  • Don't feel bad for feeling jealous, you are using your feelings appropriately (to advocate for your lo). I think early intervention is a wise choice. However, if the evaluation says everything is normal but you still have doubts, trust your instincts and fight for help. My son was born 10 weeks early, and cosistantly scored low in speech and language comprehension on his evaluations. It wasn't low enough to qualify for services until I lied on a few questions. When he was evaluated by professionals (his early intervention specialist was not...she kept insisting he was fine and even got mad when I insisted on the referral) they found gross communication delays as well as gross and fine motor delays (where he had always scored perfectly on the ei evals). My daughter was born on her DD and is so advanced (rolling both ways @ 4 mos, crawling @ 6, speaking 12 words at 1-yr), but as proud as I am of her, it makes me so sad my son was deprived of a "normal" infancy....
  • Don't worry! It will come sooner than you know. My son will be 7 months on Monday & is crawling already. Before, I couldn't wait til he could crawl...now I wish it could've waited a while longer. He gets into EVERYTHING, opening cabinet doors, taking plug-ins out, trying to bite the floor, trying to get under the couches...you have to watch them every second :O
  • BUT I do get a little jealous when other babies his age or younger can sit up on their own, he can't sit up unless I sit him up...but then when I let go he can only sit up for like 5sec. :/

  • My lo already speaks a few words which shocked the dr to hear already but we'll see how she's doing at 9mos. It feels like forever and a day away.
