B.F an Pregnant

edited April 2012 in Pregnant
So i went into my doctors office the other day to confirm my pregnancy an the nurse an the U.S tech both said im gonna have to wean my L.O off of the breast. Because my body needs to just feed the new baby. And they said if I didn't my L.O wouldn't be getting enough because my supply is most likely extreamly low... I haven't seen my doc/midwife because she was out of the office. I don't know what to do... Please tell me I can breastfeed still, I can't do bottles... I hate washing them. By the way my supply doesn't seem low. Please tell me someone is breastfeeding while prego. Thank You in advance. = )

  • YES you can still breastfeed! You just have to ensure that you have an adequate diet and vitamin intake! You may experience a drop in your supply due to the new pregnancy, but you can continue on as long as you like or until/if you supply ends up being depleted!
  • I've read and heard of many ladies on here that breastfeed while pregnant. I know that you can and there is nothing wrong with it, you just need to make sure you are getting enough nutrients and water to go around to all three of you now. I've heard of supplying lowering when you are pregnant but I would not quit just because that is possible, I say do it for as long as you can. Btw I was not able to breastfeed either one of my kids, I just know these things from reading about it and what I've seen on here, not from personal experience.

  • Not true don't wean!! ^^^^
  • What they said.^^^ I would have been like well, I see an LC who actually went to school for human lactation and she said that's not true lol.
  • I can refer you to a book if you're going to tandem?
