Sudden sharp pains. Any ideas? Please

edited April 2012 in Health
I dont know if this is relevant but Im 4.5 months pp. I was also told I have high risk hpv. The last month and even more the last two days, ive been having sudden sharp pains on my left side (not in my stomache, but lower. Perhaps where an ovary is?). Anyway, I dont know whats causing the pain. Has anyone else had this? Is it normal or something I should be concerned about? The pain isnt constant. It just happens suddenly. A sharp pain for a split second & then it stops (until it happens again). Ive always been the type to avoid doctors unless totally necessary, so im just wondering if anyone else has had these pains before or knows what they could be.

  • There's so many organs in that area that there's no way to tell without an exam :(

@captivated its on my left side, about 3/4 of an inch above my csection scar. But I also have pain in what feels like my cervix. Its not a sharp pain there. It just feels...weird. Im not sure how to explain the feeling in my cervix (thats just where it feels like its coming from). I really need to go back to my OB/GYN but I hate drs so much, and as stupid as it may be, ive been avoiding getting another colpo & most likely a biopsy. I dont know if my pains are related.
  • Any thoughts or ideas?
  • I get these often. I'm 5.5 months pp
  • @mimii36 do you also have the pain in your cervix? Or just the sudden sharp pains in your side?
  • I can't really say its my cervix but its down by my csection scar. It sometimes feels like a contraction.
  • Oh, well this doesnt feel like a contraction. The sharp pain by my scar is only in one spot on the left side and then a weird aching feeling in what feels like my cervix. Aching may not be the best word to describe it, but its about the closest feeling I can think of. Its really odd. That part doesnt really "hurt". The main pain is the spot on my left side, right above my scar. I dont know...its really hard to explain what this feels like. It just doesnt seem right and I have a bad feeling that something is wrong. @mimii36
  • Well that's where I feel mine at too. But Idk...there's no way for you to know anything for sure without seeing a doctor.
  • @mom2ing I doubt ill go to the ER unless the pain becomes constant. For now, it comes & goes, but I do plan on making an appointment with my dr for the 2nd colpo I was supposed to have, but never scheduled :( I was afraid of what they may find. Ever since I got pregnant with aadyn & was told I have high risk hpv, ive been afraid. I know the earlier something is found the better, but im just afraid. Ill make an appointment & get it over with I suppose :(
  • @mom2ing I thought about that. It feels like its slightly above my scar (about an inch above) but I guess it could still be from that. And maybe the "cervix" pain/slight aching could possibly be that too. Ive not had any abnormal bleeding, and no really abnormal discharge (though every now & then I have what still looks like my mucus plug did, in smaller pieces, TMI. The hpv scares me though because I keep reading cervical cancer symptoms. Im just hoping its csection related.
