Something I have also been told recently by my dietician is to eat a small bowl of vegetable soup about 30mins prior to main meal as this gets everything moving already.
I personally find a large glass of water about 15mins before works great to.
@dadof2n1togo, we tends to tell people to have a piece of fruit, like an apple and a tall glass of water. It takes our bodies like 20 minutes to realize we are full. Since we eat so fast we tend to overeat. Drinking water and a piece of fruit starts that eating cycle and we are better able to register satiety, thus eat less.
