baby registry...too expensive or not??

edited March 2011 in Pregnant
Ok my husband and I started our baby shower registry at Target today. And I feel greedy because everything is so spendy for gifts. Everything is pretty much minimal $20 which isn't a lot for one thing but there are about 8-9 items a lot more...is this too much for friends who come that I don't see often??

  • No not at all cuz if they go a different route n jus by pampers the gon spend at leat $20 so in my opinion ur ok its jus somethin u want for ur baby
  • That's true, ok I feel better. We put essentials that were reasonable prices but I've never worked that stuff before. Thanks @pooh22. I love Winnie the pooh! Our babys room theme is pooh bear :) Idk what your sn means but made me think of it!
  • Lol that has been a dream of mine winnie the pooh theme!!!!!! but I used to work in the baby depot n burlington coat factory so I pretty much no the expences of almost everythin...... btw first_time_mommy my sn are my basketball numbers lol.....
  • Just think maybe a couple people can just team up on big stuff. I have. 2 registries. One at Walmart at one at Target. Basically my thought is that I could do the shopping around for them.
  • If you are using target as your registry, just be sure that your shower is no more than 1 month from your baby's due date. They have a 90 day rtn policy and they will not take things from a registry that were bought well in advance of the shower. They don't make exceptions. I love target, but I used them for a registry once and it sucked. :( and to answer your question, I put the expensive stuff on my registry with my first-the carseat, stroller, pack n play, etc. If they don't want to spend that much they'll buy other stuff, and they can always buy things as a group. Don't feel greedy, you're having a baby! It's expensive and everyone knows that, that's why we have showers. :)
  • dont think so, you arent forcing people to buy these things, and e eryone knows its for a good cause. Besides two or more people can always split sonething! In in the process of trying to register now and I just feel so bad making a list of presents it just doesnt feel, right but my sister and mom keep reminding me our family and friends WANT to buy things and be a part if it :) hope this helps!
  • Just remember not to buy into all of the marketing schemes. A $70 bathtub works just as well as the $20 one. Check out online reviews for all of the bigger items before you put them on your registry. I registered for these really awesome car shades only to find out later that every review said they didn't do what they claimed and were a waste of money. Also, if you get the $20 tub, potentially someone can spend the other $50 on more items you need.
  • If you put the expensive items on, a lot of stores offer discounts for items remaining after the shower. We put the stroller pack and crib on. My mom ended up buying the stroller but we are buying the crib ourselves at 10% off. Any little bit helps!
