Have any of you had this done. It is growing very popular where I live. I have 2 close friends who did, and they swear by it. For those of you who don't know what it is. You pay a doula/midwife and they chop, dehydrate, granulate, and then put the placenta into capsules/pills. This is to help with postpartum depression, milk production, uterus shrinkage, overall recovery, increase ebergy, high in iron and not to mention if you're breastfeeding it passes nutrients to the baby. Anyways just curious if any of you have had this. Ipaid deposit

I didn't do it because I was pretty narrow minded when I had my daughter. I was only 20, but if I could do it again. I absolutely would. Especially hearing about it helping with ppd which I had badly.

@natashalynn that's exactly why I want it. Plus I'm going for a vbac and hoping this will help recovery!

I recommend it too! If you have a dehydrater you can do it yourself

I did it myself. Took me around 13hrs, but it was totally worth it!

I had a fellow doula do mine for me, she also made a dehydrated umbilical cord keepsake and it is very cool! With my first baby I didn't have it done and I suffered with ppd for a good year..this 2nd baby I had my placenta encapsulated and it has made a world of difference, my mood is so much better, my milk supply is through the roof , I just feel great when I take them my postpartum bleeding was minimal after a few weeks , I did bleed a lot after this baby but that's because he was 10lbs 3oz so that was def to be expected! Lol
If im a lil moody in the morning sometimes my hubs will ask me if i took my happy pills yet and hes usually right, ill take them and feel awesome I would def recommended placenta encapsulation, I just wish they wouldn't run out lol best hundred bucks spent ever

I want to do it this time ive found two midwives un my area but I wanna make sure its legitimate u know. I wish I knew what to look for or I wish I knew someone whose done it that I could have them do mine that be great! I didn't have ppd and had great recovery with my first but I would like better milk supply and more energy. Plus never know how lucky I'll get this time with recovery.

Most doulas or midwives who offer PE go through a type of certification for it, u can ask about that but I would think a cnm or certified nurse midwife would most likely be legitimate

Ya I would hope so. But never met one or anything so I have no clue how they become one or anything. Wish we had one in the family. We only got doctors, paramedics, teachers, and photographers lol. But im assuming the info I have on these two do that I'm not even sure I haven't called yet was waiting until today. But says one the things listed pp care..plus if they don't do it maybe they know another midwive that does? It doesn't say pe directly on it. There's one but she's not in my area sucks...@Scarlettsmama

I've been looking into it. I had really bad depression after Madison and I'm already depressed about this one being a boy. Hubby said I got to the point where I wanted to leave him and Madison and just check out. Now I just have to convince hubby that its worth the cost and find someone around here to do it.

That's sweet of you @homebirthadvocate I found a doula locally that will do it for $200, I better start saving!

@adri805 the deposit was 25 and then I owe 175 when they deliver the pills! Honestly 200 is a steal to me. I paid that much for my sons bday cake lol!

Glad to hear there is so many of you trying it. Other than the few people I know who have done it, people look at me crazy when I tell them about it!

you can find certified people in your area to do it, if you can't find a midwife that will ^^^
