Then why didn't the people I know who got busted have any jail time,fines, or tickets. Nothing happened except they received a licence to do it legally. And this kind of thing happens all the time.
well first of all that was kinda rude...and second of all if it was ILLEGAL to dye my hair then the gov would have every right to tell me not to do it..and if I didnt like it then I would just have to move to another country that did allow it!
all I said was that if they had a script or a permit for it then I doubt they would get in trouble for it..its the people that just use it as a way to get high that get in the trouble...
Why are we arguing about what's illegal and what's not. If I was getting free money from the government and they told me hair dye was illegal and I couldn't use it....I wouldn't. That's the whole point of getting government money, they can control it.
Sorry didnt mean to be rude. My point is that its semi-legal and they should either make it totally illegal or totally legal. And that if you start letting government have more controll over our choices it will someday lead to them telling you you cant spend their money on whatever they deem unecessary....even things like hair dye, junkfood, new clothes,makeup, or whatever they decide WE dont need. If you're talking about the government...I wouldn't be too sure about anything!
And people...don't forget who the government is owned by... The people of the USA. Freedoms being taken away is always going to be bad in the long run. That's why I don't think cigarette smoking should be illegal either even though I hate cig smoke. And if people use their gov.money to buy them, that's their choice. They just have less money for everything else. Im sure you all occasionally buy things that are not good for you, or not necessary. Now make a list of them because if you think this bill is a good idea then you wont mind if we make it illegal for you to buy them. The gov. always tries to see if these things will fly with those who are on assistance first. If we allow it with them then theoretically, it should be ok to do to everybody else.
Like the government can tell me what to spend my own earned money on. It's not given to me by the government. I pay money to the government with that paycheck I make every week. That's being a little far fetched.
There are many good points in this thread. True users of the system will find a way around it. Plain and simple. Some people need assistance and help. I hate to say this but people assume almost everyone on assistance wants it. I get food stamp and medicaid and I work but the cost of my apartment and electric are more then I make at my job and I have three roommates. I can't afford a car so I don't have insurance or gas to pay. Hud housing is too hard to get into or there is a three to five year wait. Go find another job you say? I would love to. People aren't hiring and if they are you better make sure that that you are better then the 1000's of other people who are all applying. The unemployment rate is what is causing a lot of this tension and the need for assistance. Maybe if the government actually helped people find jobs that were on assistance or if we found a way to create more job there would be less people on assistance.
I am not proud to admit it but I sold weed when my daughter was first born as a way to help ends meet. I got my stuff given to me and sold it, never used it and never put my own money up for it. Yeah I was terrified of getting caught knowing I would go to jail but when your a single mom who's one job wasn't enough and the town you lived in only has a few jobs that you are qualified for you gotta do what you gotta do. This was years ago that I did the drug dealing thing and I wasn't on government assistance during that time.
Don't feel bad if u need assistance for awhile. That's what we pay taxes for! The money you're being given was fist taken from u in the form of taxes. That's my point! Theres no way youve gotten back ALL the money youve paid in taxes in your lifetime. The poeple on assistance should have as much freedom as those who are not because it was their money first! ! The gov borrowes the money from all of us and is supposed to help those in need...without taking freedoms away. You will get back on your feet and you will be paying taxes with the rest of us soon enough. Trust me .
keep in mind about.some ppeople u seee using assistanc thst have or look like they have money. fostet parents use wic and food stamps for the foster babies. so next time you see someone thst looks to "wealthy" to be onwic maybe they're a foster parent. but for anyone on asxodtance, I think they should be drug testes. I alwaus thought this. y should I keep paying for them to use.
Also for those sayin we're using our money. How would u react if say ur neighbor came and asked for $50 for food for their kids and u found out they used it for drugs instead. Would u give them money again?
I think that's an awesome bill and wish they would pass that in cali. Im sick of paying taxes into welfare for people just to use the money they do have on drugs cuz they know they get free food.
I personally think is s great idea! As for me I dont care if they test me cuz I dont use drugs n never have! Buf seriously we have too many people not only single mothers abusing the system! Yes its sad but its true that a great amount of people use their benefits for drugs, evrn foodstamps n worst r the people I have seen that give them cash in exchange for the food stamps! I met a lady who literally told mr that she did this type of excchange with a crack head and I told her she is so disgraceful!
I agree. I think its a great idea. I know alot of people who keep having kids to receive assistance so they can stay home to do their drugs. Those of us that work for a living are paying them to stay home and get their high. I don't think its far.
I love it... I don't think they should have to pay, but it would be worth it if they did, they know if they won't pass they won't want to pay for it. My stepsons mother and her boyfriend get $800 in assistance a month they both smoke cigs and pot... they spend over $500 a month on it and never have money for food. They buy the drugs with their kids in the car and my stepson is 9 he will know what they are doing soon. I worry he will start smoking it too. It would be great if she was tested so she would loose her money or realize she needs to stop for her kids.
I think its a great idea and it wont save money but it will help get drug addicts off assistance. I pay taxes and dont want my money going to dead beat parents
I say let them make bad decisions with THEIR money. The gov. took it from them in taxes and are giving it back. But if people are using drugs instead of buying food for their kids, then why ( Miss Rightious) haven't u reported them? You just sit there and do nothing, and tell other people their freedoms should be taken away! WOW! U HAVE SEEN THE KIDS IN THE CAR DURING DRUG DEALS AND. DONT REPORT THEM! They wouldn't be getting bennifits if the gov. took their kids away and you're sitting there allowing all this to happen...taking no personal responsibility. Maybe if more people took personal responsiblity and annonomously reported these people...WE WOULDN'T HAVE TO RESORT TO TAKING PERSONAL FREEDOMS AWAY FROM PEOPLE!!!
