I'm havin a girl but if it was a boy I would. I dated a guy who wasn't circumcised and he had medical problems because he wasn't. He had to get surgery done on his *thingy* (lol)... He said it was really painful and when he was like 20 he had to get circumcised...
@firsttimemommytobe yes it hurts well the Guy I was with n a couple boys I know had said that it hurts to pull the skin back to clean it. N yes if the Guy doesn't clean it the girl they r wit will get an infection. It also keeps the head from growing as I was told once
There is NO medical reason it's merely personal preference or religious reasoning! I've had many doctors tell me there is NO medical reason the studies that are coming back from doing it are showing the myths of circumcision are FALSE! It's not dirty! it's not hard to keep clean! and rare, if taken care of properly I.E. good hygiene, that any surgery is need later in life! Also it's 2011 people don't get made fun of for it anymore! Most people from other countries are not even circumcised....I will not circumcise my son.... My fiance it not and NONE of his brothers or friends are, or any of his family! and none of them had any problems also my grandparents were not and no problems.... again personal preference. Not any less cleaner or less hygienic to not be circumcised that it false....
@ghettobetty the other disscussion about what the purpose of circumsision is what made me start this one cuz i was wondering how many was and how many wasnt lol but ur free to write all you want on here cuz people need to hear both sides..
@huneybee The actual amount of nerves removed during the procedure are between 10000 and 20000. That is a lot of nerve endings to lose as far as later sexual pleasure goes. Another purpose of the foreskin is for protection and lubrication of the glans, something else that is lost during circumcision.
Here is a fantastic link to a site that lists all the parts of the anatomy that are removed during circumcision. The foreskin and other removed parts are all a part of a healthy, functioning penis. http://www.norm-uk.org/circumcision_lost.html
I'm not trying to start anything and I could care less whether your son will be or not...that's a choice each parent makes for their child. But I hate when people say its NOT their decision to make...a baby can not make any decisions on their own, so how is that any different. You chose to breastfeed or not, what clothes your baby will wear, etc. It's your job as a parent to make that decision for the baby.
@lilacsiamese77: thank you for posting all those links. I too did a lot of research and read about the deaths.
I think more people should read up on the facts than rush to make thier desicions. Again, i respect all desicions, but I don't like when they look down on people that aren't or won't circumsize just by the way it looks.
Personally, I have no problem with either, but I am a single mom and I already have a dd. I honestly dont know if I.coukd properly teach my son to take care of himself so I am having the circumcision. I dont want him getting infections etc due to my inabilities as a parent.

Circumcision is also a leading cause of neonatal (first 28 days) death.

It is difficult to get accurate statistics on infant deaths due to circumcision but many studies point to as many annual deaths from circumcision as from SIDS. http://www.icgi.org/2010/04/infant-circumcision-causes-100-deaths-each-year-in-us/
For me, even one preventable death is too many.
