Omg i am a horrible mother

I noticed madison (3 months) stank even after a bath, tonight after her bath i was feeding her and noticed her neck was kind of red, i pulled up the skin and she had rotted milk under there, i started crying hysterically and called hubby in to help me clean it, she was in so much pain :'( it was super red and uncomfortable and raw, we put triple antibiotics on it, should we put diaper rash cream on it? We're gonna keep it clean but it cant really be aired out, what else can we do?? @ashleyfew any ideas?

    I put diaper rash cream on my lo neck. She haa a fat neck & it gets a rash all the time.

    You're NOT a bad mom. A bad mom would notice it & not clean it or feel guilty for it being there. The fact that you are concerned if you're a bad mom, proves that you arent! Now you know to make sure you get it all clean. Thats all that matters

    This happens to my daughter too. It's really hard to clean her neck and she hates it when I try to clean it. I put diaper rash cream in her neck and it clears up the rash.

    My friends baby did that it turned out to be a yeast infection it smelled horrible

    My little one had her back hair all sticky with knots cause when she spits up it will go to the back... and don't feel bad ur a good mom by the way my Lo is 3mths aswell

    This happen w my first and i felt the same way as u. After that i always dried their necks w a towl after bath and carefully put baby powder on their necks. Just b careful not to let her inhale the baby powder if u do it. Dont feel so bad. It happens. ;)

    Thanks @everyone i just can't help but feel bad, she wasn't acting like herself all day, i've definetly learned and will clean her neck more throughouly (sp?) and keep it dry, i'll put diaper cream on when she wakes up again and keep an eye on it

    You are not a bad mom! Im not a mom yet but I've been helping with babies and kids since I was about 10. It happens sometimes. Whenever I feed a lil one I always use a burp cloth under their chin (I'm just saying that is what I do, not saying you don't :-) ) (if your bf I have no clue what the trick is lol) And I just wipe their neck with a baby wipe after wards.
    I do just want all of you ladies know that my lil cousins Dr said not to use neospornes (sp) (triple antibiotic ointment) there was a study found that parents were using it to often and it heals the outside but that our bodies are meant to heal from the inside out. I think its ok to use it sometimes but don't over do it. :)

    Maybe aquaphor would help. When ever my Lo gets raw I put it on her and the next day is great. Be careful with diaper rash cream. My legs rubbed together and got sore when I was pregnant so I put some on. Omg it burned like hell! I would never have known if I didn't try it on myself.

    My lo is really prone to getting the same thing in her arm pits. Dont stress but if it doesnt clear up go to the doctors as is might be thrush

    Do you still have the spray bottle from the hospital after you delivered? It works wonders for cleaning out baby's rolls and armpits!! My daughter had the same problem and my pediatrician told me to clean it out with plain warm water, gently dry it, and put a tiny bit of vaseline on it... cleared it up in just a couple of days :-)

    I clean my LO in the bath or with warm baby wipes. He is 2 months. The last time I cleaned his neck with a dry towel, he started bleeding. It was really light but I think it hurt me more than him to see something like that.

    That same thing happened to us! We noticed it when she was about 1 week old, she's now 9 wks old and that still happens! We just wash her neck really good everyday...which is actually kinda tricky to get in there! I think hers was from spitting up when she was laying down and it would run down to her neck & we might see the spit up on her face and clothes and wipe it off without thinking of those deep neck wrinkles! Hers got smelly too. Now that you know, just keep it clean and dry. We felt bad too! There's so much to learn! Lol!

    Oh yes the good old cheesy neck syndrome. Bibs do help a bit but they still manage to have milk sneak into the nooks and crannies. I lightly jam a clean cloth diaper under her neck even when I breastfeed cause she is bound to turn her head during let own or something. Powder or cornstarch turns into paste when it gets wet. Only thing that seems to work is doing your best to keep it clean using a wet wipe and drying it. Do they make turtle necks for newborns?
