edited May 2012 in Pregnant
So I just thought it would be fun to see what people were unaware of what happends to you're body after labor!

Here's mine ; I didn't know that I was going to bleed for months on end!! And to only have to use those bigggg diaper lookin pads!. && after labor (I had a c-section) so I couldnt walk right away, but when I could, my belly just sagged to the ground!!! I don't know what I thought was going to happen to my belly after giving birth, but I wasn't expecting to have to lift my belly to go to the bathroom!!!

  • Lol @ the belly thing.

No one told me I'd get a uti from that freaking catheder. And then get a yeast infection from the pills for the uti. All while still bleeding and not being able to pee. I had to pee sitting in a bath for a month!!! I would of done labor five times over to not of had to deal with that recovery!!
  • Omg ^^ I would of opted for a natural labor but I had preeclampsia. That's crazy u got a uti from the Cath!!! I loved the Cath, they had me on it for 2 days, sooo much easier!!!!!
  • I'd be so hungry!
  • It was sooo annoying. I had an epi, which froze my bladder for like 2 days. And then after that I still couldn't completely empty my bladder on my own.
  • No one told me my vagina would look like it got sucked with a vaccuum hose for hours and that one of my inner labias would never shrink back!
  • Oh noo! I had 2 EPS, but both of them failed! I was so nervous about the epidural and the iv.
  • I'd end up with a prolapse :-(

& I didn't think about what would happen to my belly either, was so wobbly & just felt really weird :-)
  • That my epidural would wear off!
  • Well mines silly but....

That I would be able to summon up so much energy on so little sleep and little food... (I had to walk back and forth to the NICU every two hrs or less and it was across the building from recovery rooms...)
  • ^^ agreed!!! I pushed with out it! I wish now I hadn't got it!

No one told me that after labor my hemroids wouldn't go away over night! If anything they got worse from pushing!
  • No one told me after labor I wouldn't remember shit. ( I was put to sleep and was still high as a kite when I woke up...I don't remember anything that happen that night.)

No oe told me they had to push on my stomach after directly after my csection...with no meds!
  • No one told me I would still look 6 months pregnant. I had 2 c-sections and my belly was so big! Now looking back I don't know why I expected it to go flat straight away but I wasn't prepared!
  • Oh yaaa, the checking ur belly after a c section sucked!!! When they took out my staples they woke me up at 630 am n took em out, with no meds or anything. It didn't really hurt, but not a very nice wake up call.

A question for other mammas who had a.c section, how did ur incision heal???? After a year later I can't feel anything from my incision to my crotch. Is that normal..?
  • I have heard it is pretty normal, I have had two now (last one 6 months ago and the area around my scar is still pretty numb! I had dissovable stitches with my first and staples with my second, they weren't too bad coming out! My midwife did half on day 6 and half on day 7 I think it was!
  • No one told me after labor (natural) my legs would be like jello and I'd bust my happy ass trying to go pee! Or that I could almost bleed to death two weeks after delivery. Or that my tummy would feel like a grossest deflated balloon alive (I had twins.... I was huge!). Lol also, every shot of demerol would come with INSANE vomiting. Lol
  • Mine came out day four.
  • I was in a hospital bed for about 3 days n when they had me try n walk after c section and all my legs were SOOO heavy!!!! They felt like cinder blocks.

I never knew the nurses could give you a sponge bath && change a bed-while I was still in bed hahaha

No one told me that one of my labia's would stay torn in 2 pieces and that I was going to have the same appetite afterwards lol
  • No one told me that I would need to carry hot water in a bottle around for two months ... from the cooch pain... OMG it was dreadful!!!
  • That my epi wore off
That I would have such a "I want to see you suffer" type nurse - who wouldnt even leave when her shift was ended....
That I would bleed for 2 weeks straight
That it would be so hard to walk
That I would still be having cravings and eat so weird even 8 months after giving birth
That it takes forever to shed the baby weight.. got about 7 more lbs to get to pre preg weight and i only gained 30lbs...

theres probably more ill think of later lol.
  • ooohh i totally forgot about that @mybabe . I had to do the same along with freaking dermaplast and tucks pads.

& the sits bath was always set up in the bathroom.. well just the squirty thing i attached it to the shower and i'd fill it up every now and then.. it was a huge lifesaver.. i'd go through the whole bag plus 2 squirt bottles after.. it took me about 25 mins just to pee!
  • I'd itch like a crack head when the morphine wore off
that I would gain 50 pounds
that I would be right back preggointx
  • after i had my baby, and i was able to walk i was able to take a real shower, but i was so soar and weak that i had to sit in the chair in the shower, and let the water run on me. it was sooo hard to raise my hands to wash my hair. i was in that steaming hot shower for about 45 minutes. haha.

That i'd packed way too many bags for the hospital and too sick to even shower.

That i'd be so scared to poop.

That i'd be so worried about my bf laying on that little couch and barely eat through out the day while taking care of me

That i'd be too scared to eat anything at all. I ate soup and drank water for weeks!

  • That my ass would totally deflate into a damn pancake!! Luckily it somewhat came back lol
  • No one told me I'd pass clots the size of a tennis ball :p
