  • no circumcision for my baby boy! the things it "prevents" can be treated with a shot(not cutting off anything), and (most?all?) insurance companies no longer cover it as it is now considered a cosmetic procedure. besides, boys lose thousands of nerve endings when you snip it. i will NEVER have it done, and if anyone thinks i am wrong then they probably haven't done their research. no offense, but really, if you disagree, is it based on research or hearsay?
  • @lil_buggie_3 your info is accurate and awesome, thank you. it backs up all my research from non-biased websites. :)

If I have boys they will be circumsized, my parents were clean and not lazy but my brother was not circumsized at birth as was prone to uti's and at the age of 13 had to have it done. So to avoid a situation as such I would have my boys circumsized.

  • I heard they are tryna make it illegal in cali I think.
  • my husband is uncircumcised and has never had an infection or problem of any kind. if they are taught to properly wash themselves the chances of that happening are extremely low.
  • After I read it may not be covered by insurance, I talked to my BF about it and he vary quickly said we will just pay out of pocket then because if we have a son he will be circumsized, since I don't know what its like, I will let him make the decision
  • I'm having a girl but I looked into it before I knew what I was having and I probably wouldn't do it. numbers have gone down for circumcision. In the 70's it was 60% of men. It's gone down to 30% of men being circumcised. So I guess in a way you wouldn't have to worry about them being wierd out by it or shy cause more and more men/boys are going uncircumcised. I know it may be more painful later in life but at least they would be making that decision for themselves and I won't be taking something from my son that he can't get back should he decide that he wants it. But that's just my opinion.
  • @mschop that is fine if you wish to defer to your husband since you don't know what it is like, but technically neither does he. he has not felt what it is like to be uncircumcised. no offense.
  • for anyone who is curious, or plans not to circumcise, here is an informative article on proper cleaning procedures. it is said that improper cleaning can lead to UTI's in young children...that is true, but not in the way you think. forcibly retracting the foreskin can cause this, by causing the glans to produce smegma too early. http://www.cirp.org/pages/parents/peron1/
  • Anyway....I'm just saying take a couple seconds out .of ur busy day and teach ur kid how to clean himself!!!! and u won't have to CUT ur kid, IF UR DOIN IT for religious purposes....can someone plz explain that to me? I guess I'm thinking if u were religious wouldn't u believe that God made boys that way for a reason...... why would u change what God made so perfectly.???!!!! I'm really asking...I want to know what the reason is.

  • I'm not Jewish but from what I understand its done to sacrifice a piece of themselves to god
  • @lil_buggie3 I know. Lol. I hope they don't all start bashing me in the name of Jesus. I just curious!:)
  • @mommabee13 lol what a piece to pick eh?? Haha
  • @nicoleok87 back in the day they just took a little piece not the whole foreskin. I wonder if Jewish woman sacrifice anything.... I prefer circumsized but has nothing to do with religion
  • @nicoleok87 just curious, but if u have a girl are u planning on piercing her ears?
  • Another joke ;)
A mother asks a rabbi "how much do you charge to circumsions?"
"I don't charge, he says, I just take tips!"

  • I really don't have an opinion because I don't have a penis, but my husband is circumcised. I was talking to my mom about it and she said my dad is too. My little brother isn't and my stepson isn't. My husband asked every girl he knew if she would be grossed out if a guy didn't have it done and they all said no. I've had sex with a guy who wasn't circumcised and he liked it.

Since I'm having a boy, I'm not going to get him circumcised. My husband wants him to keep it and I think its just cosmetic these days. Since its considered cosmetic by Medicaid, the hospital would charge us over $400 to get it done. I don't have $400 to spend on getting a little piece of skin taken off, so that's the other reason why my son will keep it.

By the way, I don't think that people who get their sons circumcised are lazy or bad parents or whatever. They're just thinking of what's best for their sons and if you think that getting it taken off is the right choice, go for it.
  • I myself prefer someone who is circumsized, I know this sounds wrong, but it just looks better and I can clearly see that is clean and (tmi?) its easier to get a guy hard...in my opinion. When I was taking my LPN classes they taught us it is healthier because it prevents from infections. I worked in a facility taking care of elders and I had alot of them elder men say they wished they were circumsized because it hurts them now to have the workers messing with it to make sure its clean.
  • I personally dont want to see an ant eater. I'm glad my husband is circumsized. An we both agree to get our son also done.
  • If we have a boy he will have the surgery ;;)
  • Im having a boy and wont circumcise. Its medically unnecessary. My bf isnt and he doesnt have any problems. I personally think a circumcised penis looks weird.
  • @Summergirl22 thanks for sharing your personal experience.. i did look up videos of the procedure and I kinda felt bad for the lil guys..
  • I'm having it done as long as I can get it paid for by Medicaid like my friend
  • My sons 2 and a half and we didn't get him circumcised my midwife said as long as (between the ages 18-24 months) you wash under their for skin once a week it will be fine :)

@firsttimemommytobe .....@hunnybee wasn't been rude she was just saying that little boys love to get dirty and its eaiser to keep there parts clean if they are circumsized and if there is little boys out there who don't like to get dirty then there probably going to be on the girly side and no actually boys who aren't circumsized get the infections not do to laziness its due to the fcat that they are boys and have other things such as mud and worms on there mind not pulling there skin back to clean and FYI u were the one been rude maybe u should go read ur book again :)
  • In my religion boys are not circumcised. My husband isn't, my son, brothers etc. And they r all perfectly fine healthy boys. There's really no wrong or right choice. Its what people think is best that's all.
