*Update* African American/Biracial Mommas - Help!
*Update: just wanted to say thank you everyone for all the suggestions and advice, I went to Sally's yesterday and bought the Liv Creme Conditioning Hairdress, a 5 minute conditioning treatment, and a satin sleep wrap, and did the whole routine last night.. I put her hair in two strand twists using the Liv creme, put her in the satin wrap for bed, and her hair looks a billion times better already today!! So thanks again ladies!

My daughter Jada (mixed black/white), age 4, had the gorgeous afro you see in my profile pic til this past January, when my sister took the liberty of putting a Just-For-Me Texture Softener in it. She said afterward she thought it would just "loosen" her curls. Well, it's stick straight. I really really loved my daughter's natural hair, and all these months later, she only has about an inch of new growth. Eventually, I want to chop off the straight ends, but obviously I wanna wait til her natural hair has grown a few more inches. So what can I do with it in the meantime? I really want to avoid flat ironing or putting any other heat on it at all, and I have been keeping it really moisturized, but am I stuck only putting it ponytails for the next six months? (I'm assuming it's gonna take about that long to get some length). Her hair is too soft/fine to hold braids, cornrows, etc, so I'm really at a loss on what styles will work right now, or even how to transition her hair back. And willl coconut oil actually help it grow? Or is there better products out there that will actually encourage growth.. besides good old moisturizing? Help! Any and all suggestions would be very appreciated!

aww thanks! @mikeandronadopt
Your doing great keeping it moisterized but also be mindful of her ends. You don't want breakage. This can happen easily from the tension of combing hair when it is in the process and growing out because of the different textures.
Another good thing is that, unlike before where it was order online only, you can now buy her stuff at Macys. I'm not sure if there's one where you live but you could probably get a sample before purchasing it if there is.
