baby has echogenic focus!

My doctor told me today my babygirl has an echogenic focus which is a lump on her heart and she's small for me to be 24 wks today. I'm nervous and upset. I'm going to get an ultrasound by a perinatal specialist next week. Has anyone had this or heard about it?

Never heard of this. Sorry your baby has this! What else are they planning besides ultrasound?

@wessy24 they found this at my 20 week U/S, but i wasnt told until my 24 week U/S. the perinatologist, high risk OB, and genetic counselor didnt seem very concerned. i go next week and every week for a follow up U/S just to make sure it is going away. my midwife said she sees i n 3-4 out of 10 pregnancys. and has yet to see a baby with this and have downs. she said it is common n many babys development. they all said baby should grow out of it n pregnancy or by the time she is a year old. it is a soft marker for downs. i had a quad screen done at 13 weeks and chances for downs were 1 in 2000. the next step i amnio. but for me it doesnt change anything i will love her and cant wait to meet her and welcome her to our family.

I heard about marker for Downs and just want to know. We chose not to do the testing for any disorder so have no idea risk factor. So far ultrasound by peronatologist is all that's planned. I had a miscarriage in November and a cyst with this pregnancy and now this so I've been emotional and on edge regardless but will love her unconditionally. Thanks for prayers and ill pray for u too!
