@Alwayzbeenurz2008 he did end up having a DPA. Pretty much its a chamber to the lungs from the heart that was supposed to close but didn't. So they gave him some medicine to help him close it. He has done so much better and is now also taking breast milk so a big improvement! Pretty soon they want to take out his breathing tube because he is mostly breathing on his own as well! I got discharged yesterday but I'm in a hotel just down the street so I pretty much just go all day! 8->
@Jess_Jude that is awesome! I had PDA when i was a newborn as well i was 3 months early. He will be just fine! You have a strong little man there! So great to hear he is taking well to the brest milk and breathing on his own, keep me updated!
You should ask if they have a room avaliable for nicu parents its a small fee or sometimes free. So that you don't have to pay for a hotel. Unfortunately my hospital didn't have one due to budget cuts.
@jess_jude....He looks GREAT! It brings back so many memories of the NICU. If he continues to do well he will be home before you know it. Spend as much time as possible with him. Do as much for him that the nurse will let you do. If momma and daddy show how confident they are in caring for baby they trust you to do more. @jess_jude With him being in the NICU there should be a Ronald McDonald house closr by. They may have a waiting list but it will be much cheaper than a hotel. Pleasr dont feel like you drive them crazy. The nurses in any NICU are there because they love those babies. My son is 12 and we still see our nurses. I am so glad he is being so strong!
lol, I know the feeling. Ryleigh is VERY stubborn, but I didnt expect nothing less. lol.. hopefully he continues to do very well and yall get to go home sooner
well at least hes gaining weight maybe he'll gain weight fast! my baby girl was 7.2 when she was born and when we left the hospital she was 6.6lbs and 2 weeks later she was almost 9lbs!
Ohhhh my goodness what a love he is!! So so sweet. The same happened to my good friend and although preemies have a struggle ahead of theme your little man is so so strong and he will be perfectly fine!!! Hang in there mama... good luck... and congrats!! He's a lover and a fighter for sure!!!

**UPDATE** My son is doing good he is off the breathing tube but still getting a little help breathing. The DPA in his heart has closed! Yay! \m/ He is so much stronger! He has overcome a lot in so little of a time! I can't wait to take him home!! All his stats have been excellent! So maybe we wont have to wait to november! And finally the best news! I GOT TO HOLD MY SON!!!! Pic added! Yay!!!
