  • I'm having the same problem. I know its bad but the cravings and withdrawal put so much stress on me. I would appreciate something input too.
  • @smobley.. it jus scares me the most bcuz I smoke nearly a pack a day.. wish I could jus wake up one day and say this is it.. but I cnt..
  • Maybe I shouldn't input because I do not suffer from this addiction. However, if I were you I would try to think about the effects it has on your body and your baby's still developing body and immune system. If you don't care about damaging your own body, think about what your doing to unborn child, so defenseless and depending on only you to protect it. The next time you are having a craving, think about how selfish you are being by giving in. You only have to do this for this child one time in your life so do it right.
  • Why not think about the baby!? Why does ur baby have too smoke bc ur stressed an u can't stop!! I'm not judging, I'm just saying its not far at all!! My cousin smoked with two out of 4 of her babies, an now her kids have mental issue, her daughter is going on two yrs old an she can't talk!! She doesn't say mama or dada!! I think its selfish bc ur thinking about urself an not the baby!!
  • Mami2b2- smoking while prenant has nothing to do with that kid not talking. Do you think everyone does everything for her so she has no reason to talk? Or autism maybe? Before any of you jump down someones throat maybe you should know where they are coming from. Not assume.
  • I had the same problem.. not smoking a whole pack but have came down to one a day to none. Its hard but so worth it for my lil monkey & family. Insted of smoking get drinks with straws or.. chew on gum or put something between ur fingers where the cigg would be.. not sure.. pretending something was a ciggarret would make me want one.. but atleast not even close to a whole pack a day. Its sooooo worth giving up your addiction :) hope I helped.
    Xoxo
  • Im thinking about getting sugar free lollipops
  • My sister had the same problem she went to consoling. It helped her stop bc she was doing it more when she stress. I don't know ..worth a shot .

    What about those electric cigarettes?
  • I am 8 1/2 wks. & always told myself I would quit when I was pregnant, for my child and my health, plus I didn't want to be the "smoking mom" I cut back at first and I am now on day 2 of no smoking at all. Its hard but I think of the baby & the money I will save. I will keep you posted, we can coach each other on
  • We should start a group! So we can all lean on each other.
  • @mami2b... I posted this for advice from other pregnant womwn that have the same problem or use to smoke for help.. not for u to get on here and judge or ask me y not stop for the baby.. if it was that easy it would b done.. apparently u r not a smoker so don't know wat it feels like.. y comment if u have never been in the situation...
Jus as smobley stated... smoking has nothing to do with ur cousins baby not being able to talk.. that's another issue cuz my kids talk fine...
I thank everyone for their advice and understanding... as for mami2b... u r selfish I c... to get on here and knock someone for seeking help from others its like u seriously have a mental issue urself... only God can Judge me and until u have walked a day in my footsteps u cannot talk... so u could of kept ur comment to urself... but I do appreciate everyone else..
  • I usually don't comment on these but this one I'm very well educated on. If you quit smoking cold turkey you can possibly have a Miscarriage. You're baby will not have learning problems but cld possibly have asthma. You shldnt smoke while pregnant but no one shld be judging. It is harder then Heroine to quite. Jst cut down and ween urself completely cigarette free!! Good luck
  • I just quit smoking myself and its not easy, maybe you can try nicorette to help curb the cravings and sugar free lollipops for the hand to mouth motion. It's really unfair for people to judge if they have never been in a situatopn...good.lucka!
  • Thank u very much for ur advice and I just went a picked up a box of nicorette gum to see if that helps... and u r rite ppl should not judge bcuz I was reaching out for advice and help from others not to b criticized..! I know it not rite or good for the baby but its hard... thank u all for ur support...its greatly appreciated
  • It is not easy! I'm tryin my hardest! Just gradually cutting down, from a pack a day, to half! Hey its a hard thing to do! I know its kickin my butt! Good luck!
  • Yea I know its not easy and this pack of nicorette gum is really gross.!! Has anyone ever tried it?? Is it suppose to tingle in ur mouth so bad??
  • Hmm..... im not a smoker, im totally against it but in not here to judge just pass some of my knowledge, I used to really get onto my bestfriend for smoking when she was prego when I went w her to the Dr w her I tattled on her lol thinking I was doing good but the Dr said the same thing about her having a miscarriage if she quit cold turkey also since her body was used to it it would be worse (crazy huh) her son is now 2 1/2 and he is so freekin smart! By no means am I encouraging any one to smoke lol
  • So is that true that if u quit smoking cold turkey u miscarry?? Woow.. I didn't know that.. does anyone know y that would b??
  • Well I'm having sort of the same problem but I don't smoke ciggs I was smoking weed 2 help relax me and I actually told my doctor and he told me 2 gradually cut back now I am proud 2 say I have not hit a joint for an entire month and the funny thing is I really really want 2 but I
  • Yep it is true abt miscarriage. You're body is used to it and quitting cold turkey can throw ur body into shock. It is better to cut back and gradually quit.

  • So I'm on day 3 of not smoking. It was hard for mondays can be stress full at work. I find whenever I get a craving I think about the actual process if smoking & the smell of it, that makes me want to get sick as I can't stand the smell right now. I don't feel that I'm putting stress on my body. I had cut back to a half a pack a day & my last cig was friday at 4pm. I will keep posting.
  • I had the same problem my doctor actually told me tht I can smoke 2. A day...but I quit now cause I had strong infulences...but good luck :)
  • I am having the same issue...i went from a pack a day to 3 cigs a day and im 10 wks...i am trying so hard...i quit drinking amd taking my prescribed pain meds right away but the smoking has been much harder...i actually prayed for morning sickness so that I wouldnt want to smoke but nada! I feel extremely guilty and need help! Am I a bad mom already? And can u even chew nic gum if your pregnant b cuz I used it when I quit 7 years ago cold turkey and it REALLY helped. I am being judged so harshley by everyone except my husband about this
  • Bellareust, I understand and it us real hard. I kept telling myself I would quit after the pack I had was out, but I would find another excuse to buy 1 more pack. Last friday I decided but didn't stress over it that I was out of cigarettes & that was that. I find the less I think about it the better. Luckily the smell really bothers me so if I have a craving I just think about the smell. I'm on day 4 of not smoking taking 1 day at a time.
  • @miserable I'm going through the same thing, any tips on trying to cut back usually id go for a ciggy but I don't want to do that .. I'm nearly 7 weeks and stressing bout harming bub .
  • Do not quit suddenly, not good for baby. I made a plan for myself, for 2 days I have to wait 2 hours, the next 2 days 2 1/2 hours, and follow this pattern until I have weaned myself off. I found that if I write it down I follow the plan. This didn't work for my husband who is also trying to quit but I am now on the 3 1/2 hour mark. When I have the urge before time is up I do something baby related, reminding me why I am doing this in the first place.
  • Will defiantly try that thanx xx
  • I am having the same problem. I am cutting back gradually. I like the plan that firstpremn suggested.GOOD LUCK ALL! And for those who thought it would be a good idea to leave ignorant comments: for future reference trying to make an expectant mother feel horrible when she asks for help does more harm than good, she is asking for help because are thinking of our baby so how about a little support... just sayin
