@sara102011 would you count having contractions start when you're on or walking for more than a half hour?? just curious cuz my dr never said i needed to be on bedrest or such but if i walked or was on my feet for more than a half hour so i would limit my activity because i knew what my body could handle i only used it from weeks 32 to 35 now at 37 i do as much walking as i can
On the AF base here there is expectant mommy parking..and I always get so freaking irritated when I see a woman park there that is barely pregnant! I am 25 weeks and still dont park there! I feel like those spots should be for the women that are literally getting ready to pop! I actually asked one woman the other day if she was even pregnant! She said "yes..I said well you dont look like it, and your legs work just fine! You should be leaving that space for someone else who is getting ready to pop-pregnant!"
I was just talking to my mom about this, lol. I definitely don't agree. Unless you have extreme circumstances, pregnancy is not a handicap. I was working 40 hour weeks, on my feet last time. I definitely can handle walking across a parking lot. Leave those spaces for people who seriously need them.
@angieahrens that is crazy lol. no im easily offended like i said im 9 months pregnant but look 12 so if someone was gunna say anything to me id b like biatch please obviously if there was only one left and a old lady or soemone who had a broken leg or sometning was getting ther at the same time i totally would give it to them (i could always make my bf push me in the non electric wheelchaire cart thingys)
no. i hate when pregnant people act so "damsel in distress". you're pregnant, not dying! pregnant people still need exercise, walking is GOOD FOR YOU! and parking lots are not that big, even if you have to walk from the back, it's not that bad...
but i will add to that, some people do have complications with their pregnancy where they need to not be walking so much. that is an exception. but then, it's not the fact that they're pregnant that they can't be walking, it's the combination of both.
I don't agree with it at all. Walking kicks my butt, I have terrible pelvic pains and I waddle like a damn penguin lol but I still would never use a handicap parking space. There are people with honest to god medical conditions and I would feel terrible if I forced them to walk because I didn't wanna take a little extra time through the parking lot. I just don't consider pregnancy a disability plus walking is good!! I wont even use the free valet parking at my hospital for doctors visits lol. Idk I guess if I'm signing up to walk around walmart or any other store than extra couple houndred feet wont be the death of me.
@angieahrens ya like i said i was having contractions at 32 weeks so i used it when it was gunna be a long shopping trip( like when my bf thought it would be fun to spend 3 hours at farm and fleet) to keep kailee in longer now im tryin everything besides castor oil to get her out here
@sara102011 ya as soon as i hit 36 weeks i have been walking and before the preterm contractions started i was tryin to walk atleast once a day (for fun not including the in general everyday walking) @angieahrens im 37 and 3 days so just waiting on this stubborn lil girl dr said she would be surpised if i made it through the week
@angieahrens will do i dont have a ball but ive been bouncing on teh bed plus sex and raspberry tea and walking everytime my bf wants to go smoke (i quit but still walk outside with him so we can walk or talk while he smokes)
@angieahrens (except for ravioli) i didnt get heartburn till 3rd trimester and now i have it almost all the time and i cant live without tomatoes lol i have to have them on every burger since the first trimester and i love just chowing down on them by themselves
@angieahrens sounds like me and tuna. couldnt stand the smell before pregnancy but now i have to have one once a week or i get cranky. cant wait to see how things are after she gets here
It was our choice to have the babies and walking is one of the BEST exercises a prego can get so why give some of these lazy women an excuse to sit and do nothing but as I said it should be considered a case by case thing and by the way I'm in my 3 rd trimester too
i dont think there is any reason for a pregnant woman to get a handicapped tag. its good for you to walk! i wont even park in prego parking! i think it should b resurved for high risk women! nothing i hate more then seeing a like 3 month prego chick using the pregnancy parking! i can understand a handicapped tag if u are high risk but if ur that high risk u probably shouldnt be even going anywhere!
Yes it is good for preggos to.walk but in this hot Virginia heat...I got swollen feet and ankles...and I feel like I deserve a better parking spot....some pregnant women are in better shape than others..the handicapped sticker would only b by choice and if ur doctor feels like u need it..but I know I need it...I'm not in perfect shape and I'm feeling really crappy some days...
