@smcox That's horrible, you'd think they'd be worried about the side effects....especially the death one!
The teens bedroom is on the ground level & hubby & mine's is on the upper level. He was texting a girl about how easy it is to sneak out. I would bolt their windows shut & lock their door, but that would be a fire hazard. I think I'm gonna empty their nasty room today except for a bed & dresser. That's what the cop said I could do.
I'm sure you can find cheap stuff. Just make sure you put some on his window also. You could also take his door off his hinges. My dad did that to my sister. She had to earn the privilege back.
I just got a phone call from the intervention lady. She contacted the Prosecutor's office because she was upset that our local police department told me that "You don't want to get the law involved in this" and that "It's probably just a bump in the road, just flush the drugs". <----- YES, the freaking local police department told me that!
Well the prosecutor was NOT happy. He said I need to call the police department back, show them the drugs (I only saved the pills though) have them file a report and if they don't then to tell them to call and talk to the prosecutor himself.
Apparently I didn't know at the time, but the drugs he had are considered a felony!!!! X_X
So now I'm sitting here having to decide if I call the law and possibly get my son in trouble with a felony (it probably wouldn't go through she said because of the timing and because it wasn't found on his person...but still) or if I just let it go. The intervention lady said that that's what *should* have happened in the first place, so it's not like I'm doing something new....but she said it was up to me because she also understands that everything has cooled down now and we're trying to get him a drug assessment at a local agency.
Is he aware that you found out this is a felony and what this would mean for him? It really doesn't matter if you're a minor anymore these days, they will charge him! They need to snap out of it and realize the things they are doing can ruin their whole lives (including their futures)
I would give him two options. Rehab or boot camp or whatever, or you're taking the legal route. You've gone too far to back out and solve it only at home. He (and your family) need help, it can be his decision which way you get it. If the cop didn't scare him, his mom threatening more cops probably won't do the trick either.
Yeah, I think I'm gonna tell him about the felony possibility and if he doesn't cooperate and go to the drug assessment then I'll have to turn it in. They got him an appointment for Monday. My husband has a felony from his partying days over 25 years ago and he doesn't qualify for many jobs even today because of it...and he can never have a firearm and other stuff. @blessedtxmom@natashalynn
OM effing G! (sorry, but I'm really upset right now)
I left my bedroom door unlocked on accident the other day. (ONCE!) Well, I was just checking the bag of pills since I might have to turn them in and HALF OF THEM ARE GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, my Kindle fire was logged onto his Facebook. (well not logged on, but his email was automatically there on the log in screen which means he was on it.)
Can anyone please tell me how to tell if he's on something...like what it looks like to see someone who's under the influence of drugs. He keeps saying he's tired, but I swear he looks high or something. He just seems kind of slow, he keeps squinting his eyes and not acting himself. I seriously have never been around anyone who's doing pills or drugs...I'm so naive.
Depends what the pills are truth be told, different pills have different effects...can you take him somewhere to be tested? I wouldn't let the kid out of my freaking sight. Seriously, take his door off and get an alarm system.
I'd be tempted to take him to the hospital...who knows how many he took at once...if he's truly addicted and worried about you taking them again he may of taken more than normal so they don't go to 'waste'.
Okay you said they work for your business. Fire them drug habits take MONEY, if you set them up bank account freeze them, if they have cash in their rooms take it. Make sure you lock up anything that has a monatary value. Because if they are hooked they would ( to be blunt) sell you if they had to. I know this from experience I have dealt with my share of addicts. My sisters boyfriend had to pee in a cup on demand if anyone felt like saying drop some urine (rehab was a total waste he tested positive and got booted 2 times). Take their car keys when your husband gets home. If you have a safety deposit box put any jewelry in it, also watch your electronics because once you cut their money friends will only carry them so long, as I said it is an expensive habit. The above mention boyfriend began stripping wires for the copper.
Detox took the him about 2 weeks on his moms couch and be prepared not only will they think they are dying, you will to. His family was fed up with paying for help for no reason, and made him quit the last time cold turkey. He sayed clean for a year or two and is using again. Are your sure this is a relatively new problem ?
I don't want to get anyones pannies in a bunch, but it wouldn't be entirely bad if you had a brother or someone to KICK some sence into them. Think about it what would you do if a lo was trying to drink bleach over and over? I would smack his hands and move him away. At16 a hand smacking won't do the trick. If all that doesn't work you could try rehab but with my experience they do not work. I have an uncle that would go in work the system until he wanted to leave and then say and do everything the dummies wanted to hear. Then he would be back home doing the same shit it was nothing more than a game to him.
Some really tough love may do the trick. You metioned an alarm system adt is about 35-60 bucks a month.
You can also get a home drug test from CVS for around $30 and they test for everything...depending on what kind of medicine the methocarbonal is made out of.
@char I was just on the phone with my husband & he was saying a lot of the same things. He doesn't think rehab always works either, we decided to cut off their money supply. The 15 yo admitted he has been doing pot for over a year so I guess it's not a new problem. He also said if I don't give him his phone back he's going to steal something of ours & sell it, which lets me know he may already be doing that. My husband & adult daughter also mentioned having someone knock some sense into them, not sure how that would work out or who.
@ericak22 thanks, I'm gonna go read that article now.
@wilsomom@blessedtxmom hey if we are offering I know a couple people that could put the fear of god into them. By the time they were done those boys would be begging for you. One of my uncles is a former hells angle that is now almost completely disabled from partying and a motorcycle accident. But he still knows people.
Seriously tho do you have a jail in ur area that would give them a tour, maybe with an over night stay? Maybe ROTC for the one who wants to go into the marines? I was in ROTC in high school and they don't play around. Also he would enlist at a higher rank if he doesn't go ro college. We were navy but had a marine comander whooo budy that man was all about whipping kids into shape.
Besides that maybe put one at a time in the truck with your hubby. You pack their suitcase so they can't sneak anything, no phone except your husbands. A week if long haul trucking will make them want to go to college. A team truck that runs about 7000 miles a week would be better tho.
I think u r at the point where u have to do what u have to do to save ur boys from continuing down this road of distruction. My sister started with drugs when she was 15. 3 kids and several jail stays later she is finally clean at the age of 23. Only clean because her last jail stay lasted 4 months, and if she gets in trouble just one more time she will automatically get a prison sentence of 20 years. She has only been clean for about 6 months. My parents were in total denial when she was younger. I think they r still in denial about it all. She has put her entire family thru total hell. Her children have lived lives that most adults can't even understand. You need to do what u need to do NOW before it totally destroys your life and your family because that's what drugs do. They destroy everyone not just the user. Let them get felony charges they will still be able to live a normal life w that charge. It's 100% better then the road they r choosing to follow. Been praying for u and ur family.
Thanks everyone for the great advice and sharing your stories. We are trying to move to a different town and I may consider home school....it would be a huge challenge since they are in high school, but I will do it if it comes down to it. I'm a little spacey today, sorry, from all that's going on. @mommyof3girls@thehumancrockpot@char@starxoxo9@blessedtxmom

This is so not easy.
