First shower at hospital-take the stool...I said I didn't need it but my nurse brought it in the bathroom 4 me "just in case"...I used it! No matter how "fine" u think u feel, u just gave birth which is a lot of work! Cabbage helps w breast pain from any swelling/excess milk! Vaseline on babys bottom makes poop stick less=easier diaper changes. We put it on both my boys bottoms until they were out of constant poop stage! If u have a boy and he is circumcised u will need the vaseline anyway. If/when baby gets diaper rash (its bound to happen eventually!) olive oil works wonders Trust ur gut! If u think something is not right and can't shake it...ur prolly right-even if the nurse says "its normal" (I ended up w an infection. I tore so I was sore anyway, but everytime I used the bathroom it hurt SO bad and the dermaplast wasn't helping. I told my nurse I was in a LOT of pain but she said "just keep using the dermaplast". After being home for almost a week, I was feeling really crappy...checked my temp and I was running a fever. Mom brought me in and we found out that I had an infection...Dr didn't specify much just prescribed some antibiotics. No big deal but I went through a wk of this pain thinking something was wrong.) Same thing goes for u and baby...u know ur baby better than anyone! Formula feeders...dispose of old formula...my hubby and I didn't think it was a big deal to leave a bottle by the bed at night since we would b feeding soon anyway...baby got thrush (he was fine and able to fight it off himself but still made an already emotional mommy feel much worse!) May b common sense for some but we were bad-no prenatal classes and we didn't read any books before hand...well I read "belly laughs" and "baby laughs" but I don't think that really counts! Lol. Enjoy every second and take lots of pix...don't let anyone tell u that u r taking "too many pix"...there's no such thing. Before u know it ur gonna b planning babies first bday *tear*! Good luck and enjoy them!
Ya...advice for 2nd time moms/dads...don't forget that u own a camera! Lol. It is terrible...ours sits in the diaper bag most of the time! W my first I literally took a pic of every new outfit we put on my son...now w our second I forgot to take pix of Easter at my in-laws...first celebrated Easter for the kid and no pix to show for it
#1 Use extra nipple pads in public. Sometimes I'd leak so bad with 2pads I'd soak thru my shirt. #2 Also with the squirt bottle I used that to clean my stitches (episiotomy) for over a month. After I was done we would use it for babys bath. She enjoyed the warm flow of water. #3 It helps w cleaning babys neck too. Some babies have flabby necks. So make sure its dry & clean. #4 Also I know the rule now for naval cleaning is to not use alcohol but a Qtip w alcohol once a day helps the stump dry up better. (My cousin did neither & her sons neck always smelled like rotted cheese & his naval stump got gross & leaked yellow liquid.) #5 VERY IMPORTANT feed the baby when he's hungry!!! Baby doesn't eat on ur schedule. He eats on his own. Get used to it or baby gets under nourished. U want a healthy baby not one thats too skinny. (Anothr thing I learned from idiot cousin....she fed him on her schedule & he's small & underweight now at 4yo.) #6 don't force baby to eat solids. They're ready on their time. My daughter was an early eater but ate well. My cousins son she forced big spoonsful & he'd choke & tear up. If babys got tears from a big amount of food in his mouth. Take it out & give him a smaller amount next spoon. Don't force things into his miuth. When he's done hes done. Good luck on raising healthy happy babies!! Hope this helps!
@one5one wow thats crazy. Yea we had it shoved down our throats that she will do things when she is ready. Helpful encouragement is what we were told. Loving all the advice and I am glad that this post was helpful.

Number wait what number am I on?? Ov well. Lol. Oops. Don't be afraid to ask for help or free stuff. Baby stuff is expensive. And any little thing helps.
They will what you should do is everyone they switch your nurse hoarde the diapers then ask for more. Also with wipes. I don't know with the formula, but my hospital brought me formula packs and I got to chose. Then another nurse brought in the other one lol..But I can't say for other hospitals. Of you qualify WIC can help. And it doesn't always hurt to try.

I always wanted kids, just not this soon. I wanted to wait a couple more years lol.
I'm using the playtex kind. They are shaped like the nipple and he seems to like them.
