edited May 2011 in Pregnant
Omg, like seriosly....too many people are getting upset and "leaving" over what others have said to a 17 year old and a 14 year old ttc.

I would just like to say, for those of you teen moms that are already pregnant, I say Congrats to you on your babies and sincerely wish you the best luck! I truly do, babies are blessings.

I just do not condone girls under 18 getting pregnant....Im sorry. Especially a 14 year old! She is a baby herself.
Having lost 2 babies myself, its hard to see such a young girl throwing her life away. And ill admit i got pregnant at 17 and i was not trying, it just happened, but i was a month away from graduating high school and a few months away from turning 18, but that still didnt make it okay. But at around 7 weeks i lost that baby, and it went to a better place.

This post is not meant to start any drama or debates in any way shape or form.... i just simply wanted to make it clear to all the teen moms already here that i was not bashing them or anyone really in any way.

Thanks for taking the time to read :)

  • I agree...I got pregnant at 16 almost 17 but I didn't try to get pregnant it just happened...now at 14 I don't think you should be trying to have a baby or at17 if it happens Congrats but don't try! Its harder then you think trust me!
  • I have two and am 18 and married.. I love my kids but I wish I would have waited a little longer on the first one! I completely understand where y'all are coming from!!
  • Yep and coming on here trying to get a congrats.
  • Thank You ladies for understanding that i am in no way trying to bash teen moms, I am one myself. I just dont condone it at such a young age(14).
  • I totally agree!!
  • Thank You! :)
  • More power to teen moms, my mom had my sister at 17. I'm 22 and freaking out about my little one. I support teen moms, but I can't say I support 14yr Golda who purposely get pregnant.

There may be some teens who make GREAT parents, but there are also the ones who don't. But that is the same at any age. Those 17,18 year olds in my eyes you may be considered a "teen" but you are an adult.
  • I def agree I do not agree with children having children

  • I'm sorry if this may offend anyone but up until 18 years old you should be focused on your education so that you will be able to support your child later in life. I absolutely will not support or congratulate a teen mom. I think that it's behavior that should not be reinforced with congratulations (that's what you say to celebrate something). Congratulations is condoning that behavior. I have refused to go to baby showers for teen moms because I don't want to celebrate something I think shouldn't have happened. I'm just saying how I feel like everyone else....... not trying to offend or cause drama.
  • @isaiahnjocelynsmommy I think when it come to ttc at 17,18,19 it's becoming a lot more common because people are getting married earlier now, and sex is so in the media so much more.

At 19 my husband and I went to the whole of it happens it happens thing and stopped using any protection. But we felt that was right for us and were ready and able to support a child. Looking back I'm kinda glad it didn't happen that soon.

  • Legal age in Nebraska is 19 and in Iowa its 18, thats how i was born and raised. So that is what i go by and that just seems more accepting.
  • I'm in California and it's 18.

  • @MommyofAngels I was one with an opinion non favorable with everyone. We aren't always gunna agree or see eye to eye (in My case) however I'm still here &&respect all ur opinions its wat makes pregly soo cool. Sseeing all points of opinions (:
  • A 16 year old is barely able to take care of themselves. I was super responsible at that age and wouldn't even want to try to live on my own. Being an adult is more than just being emancipated at 16 or being 18. Being an adult is shown through your actions.

  • this is stupid seriously its been made VERRY odvious that this is a extremely touchy subject so why would u right this.. throwing there life away are u serious how can u say that someone who os 17 and gets pregnant on accident is a blessing but someone 17 and pregnant purposly is an idiot.. this is ridiculous the only difference between being 17 and 18 is that u can't buy tobacco get over urself..

My personal opinion is you should not be ttc if you are not an ADULT, have a stable career, and a stable relationship (except if you are using a sperm donor service or adopting, I know many single, stable women want children but don't want to have a man in order to do that) to ensure that both you and the baby will have the life you both deserve. Accidents happen, and we need to make the best of them. But actively trying is a far different thing. And I'm sorry but the majority of 16 year olds, whether they are considered an "adult" or not, are far from it. In fact, many 18 year olds I know are immature as well. Actively trying to be a parent is something you need to be emotionally, mentally, physically, and financially prepared for and children just aren't prepared to do that.

This is NOT bashing teen moms. I commend teen mothers for taking the responsibility and for making the best of the situation. That is admirable!
