high heels and prego????

edited March 2011 in Second Trimester
I am 20 weeks and very much showing. Last sunday at my moms friend babyshower an older lady saw my 5 inch heels and almost had a heart attack.she started to go on how I'm cutting circulation in my legs and I'm going to have high blood pressure and something about my veines that they could pop and just went on and on. Lucky I had my mom with me and she started to defend me saying it is actually really good for me it exercises my legs and helps tone them too. But the lady insisted that I stop wearing them and finished saying if she were my daughter I would hide every pair of shoe that was not a flat.
Since I could remember I have always worn high heels I'm talking about 6 7 inch heels. But I guess I'm woundering who is really right my mom or the other lady.

  • I think if your not swollen and comfortable wear them why not? I'm almost 15 weeks just starting to show and still wear my heels when I get dressed up and will continue to do so till swollen or hurts too much. That ladies just being a hater don't worry about it!
  • I only wear heels now if I'm going out which I won't do anymore so I guess I wont be wearing heels until the baby drops. I'm kinda disappointed because I bought two pair of peep toe booties from Bakers before I got preggo and have only worn one pair since. lol
  • The biggest thing to worry about is your center of gravity is changing as you get bigger, and that messes with your balance. So just be really careful you don't fall.
  • Oh boy I couldn't do it anymore I just want to wear flip flops ;)

BUT I do know that when ur pregnant ur balance gets off because of extra blood and weight shift... falling can hurt u n baby but I think that's ur choice cuz ull know when u start to get light headed when u stand up...

I think pregos in heels are cute
  • Thanks Guys high heels also make me feel pretty because all of my cute clothes don't fit or don't look as cute on me like thet did before I got pregnant and my high heels are the only things that i still look cute in.
  • That's why I love the book and movie in her shoes. "Clothes never look good ..food just makes me fat.... shoes always fit" when I'm feeling down I go buy shoes lol
  • I actually feel very comfortable when I walk in them. I have only fell once and that was because it was icey and I had a ton of books but o was only 10 weeks and landed on my butt I was ok and had stopped wearing pumps and stuk with wedges for the rest of the winter
  • @toocutexcore that's exactly how I feel my baby daddy laughs cause he gave me money to buy maternity clothes and I came back with only one pair of pants and thr rest shoes. The maternity clothes were soooo not cute. And the shoes where.

  • I think it's cute
  • Ok so I'm not crazy. The other weekend I was out with my girlfriends and had on heels that were about 4inches. That's really nothing for me but I could not keep my balance. They kept asking me had I been drinking but I hadn't. I just thought I was having a clutzy night.
  • LOL I did try some on that were super high at the store and looked drunk my sister was laughing at me.
  • I say if its comfortable, go for it. I tried wearing 4. In. Heels -forget it!! Lol it was un comfortable but i had no balance and fell forward in slow motion, lol, down to my knees. It was so funny. I also was told flats are just as bad ne ways.
  • Im 32 wks and I wear wedges. As long as you're comfortable and careful not to fall you should be fine. The only problem I have with wedges is that my feet swell so I have to take them off frequently
  • @sugarfoot_4 I've heard that flats are bad for you as well. Something about arch support.
  • Yes, they said wearing a small heel for arch support is better than flats. I wear the walking athletic shoes it helps so much.
  • My friends laugh and say ill probably be wearing heels when I deliver but its not a problem now. My feet haven't got swollen so all my shoes still fit.
  • I'm still wearing heels too 17 weeks
  • I'm still wearing them buy I'm only at 12 weeks. I wear kitten heels though.
    The shorter ones.
  • 21 weeks and I'm still in heels. I occasionally wear flats and sandals but i feel pretty with heels. I wouldn't wear them if my sense of balance was off though.
  • My doctor told me no heels because pregnant women get clumsy and are more prone to falling. If I were you, I would retire the 5-7+ inchers and keep them lower to the ground. You don't want to fall and hurt the baby. Please be careful too because even if you don't feel clumsy or like you could fall, anything can happen.

Also, there are tons of cute maternity clothes. You just have to find them. I have maternity skinny jeans and capris that are form fitting yet stretchy. You just have to look for them. (* ̄∇ ̄*) There are tons of online shops too.

Another tip, if you like cute summer dresses, just get them in a large or extra large (depending on your body size. I'm small so I get larges) and you should fit them nicely throughout the 2nd trimester. Also, those cotton stretchy dresses are awesome to have around as well. You'd be surprised by everything that you can still comfortably wear during pregnancy.

  • @oavalas06 thats how i feel.
  • My mom told me to lay off the hooker shoes. Never!
  • Too funny... I'm addicted to the 4 and 5"... I've sat it down and invested in some flat boots at least until I'm further along... initially I was at high risk and had a tilted uterus in the past and I was told that may put me at higher risk for mc... so, i got a few supa hot rachel roy heels and over the knee boots... banging... i'm waiting to get back in them... i'm excited to wear them once i'm showing and the weather gets better...
  • Haha thats bitchin'
