Breastfeeding babydoll

  • @homebirthadvocate It's not the act of breadtfeeding that is in question here. Every single post has said that breastfeeding is fine and yes, young girls do mimic it. The point is that a company made a doll exclusively for the purpose of young girls putting that doll to their breast... that is sick. It's a ridiculous thought.
  • I would never buy a doll like that for my daughter! I don't want her trying to breast feed her doll at 4yrs old. Its just not right!
  • It creeps me out in the same way that dolls that poop and pee creep me out: not because of what it's doing, but because I think dolls that mimic bodily functions are weird. I don't see how it could possibly be sexualizing young girls, though; in fact, I think it's considerably healthier for a child than bratz (which disgust me completely) or barbie. I don't understand why there's a special 'time' when girls are old enough to learn about getting their period or being pregnant or becoming a mother-especially when they are in the position to see it happening to their own mother. How would we even know when that magical time comes? It certainly can't wait until they get their periods, because that would just make the whole thing terrifying. If we as adults truly think it's natural, then why would we hide it from our kids?

  • So wait you just show your nipple in public? I'm all for bf but I have interest in seeing your nipple. Public nudity is not cool with me, no matter what its for...my daughter in no way needs to think that showing a nipple in public is okay, I want my daughter to understand modesty. I wasn't being rude in my post no need to respond like that :)
  • Because theres a huge difference between breast feeding and bottle feeding a baby. I am all for breast feeding my second just like i did my first but I dont want my kid doing it!!
  • I don't care if she puts it to her chest, I just see no need to give her a fake nipple to use, thats the part thats weird

  • @homebirthadvocate and @macgaw agreed.

And @akmommy its a nipple. If u take ur child to any public place u risk then being exposed to numerous things. mrdd and elderly have accidental exposures, but to feed in public is so bad? I dont think so. And I agree with u bout sex and boobs with your hubby, but children learn the facts of life early and modesty can be taught whether or not toys are involved.
  • Do you atleast put a blanket over yourself?

  • If *parents* actually taught their children what sex really is instead of the media, we wouldn't even have most of the over sexualization issues we come across now. Will I buy the doll no. My children already pretend with regular dolls. Breast feeding is natural. There is no ifs, ands or buts. Do what you and your child are comfortable with. Plus, breast milk has never been recalled, for all I know this doll maybe. lol
  • Because its your business!!! No one needs to see that. When Im walking thru the mall i dont wanna see you and your boob hangin out! I understand you are feeding your baby but at least have enough decency to cover yourself up!
  • The only animal that blushes is man. We cover ourselves because we have been told to do so. Kids don't have shame in being nude, we teach them that. Of course, there r levels of appropriate exposure but shame should never be taught. There r so many young girls with horrible self esteem. I think if u r going to disagree with this toy and this sort of mimicking play, then u might as well say no doll should come with a bottle, a spoon, a diaper or any discernible private parts. We r human beings and mammals for petes sake. Sex and nudity r natural things too. Babies r known to masturbate very early in life. They don't even know what they're doing! It's all taught on a need-to-know basis but shame will never part of what I teach my children. If someone nursing near u makes u uncomfortable, covered or not, then leave. It's their body.
That said, I wouldn't buy this toy cause its overpriced and my daughter has enough imagination to play "mommy" with her dollies already.

  • I personally will probably be uncomfortable unless I have a cover but thats just me more power to those who aren't uncomfortable coverless
  • I think that's gross for a child. They can give my daughter that when she actually has boobies hanging from her chest to maybe help her to realize the responsibility if she's not ready yet.

  • Im pretty sure if I was lecturing you you would know it!! You want people to respect what you say and do with your baby but if i say how how feel you cant take it!!! If you dont like hearing opinions than dont put your 2 cents in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, go pull your boob out in some random place and relax you psyco... :-h

  • BF is protected by law and it should be u have the right to feed how u want but others also have the right to an opinion about it...I will never just let my boob hang out in public I would buy a nursing cover...that's just me cuz I know once my son is 4 or 5 I wouldn't want him walking by seeing a strangers boob out it is natural but it is hard to keep children from growing up too fast and I don't want mine getting sexual thoughts (because that's what they relate it to) as well as I don't want my future daughter to see it and wanna be like mommy so bad that it pushes her to grow up to soon...I'm exclusively bf but I won't be mooning the crowd and it is just to damn grown for a child
  • @mama_kat @mrsdelrae LOOK LOOK!!!! @HomeBirthAdvocate Is a crybaby and needs your help cause someone disagreed with her!!! L-)
  • Name calling isn't nice but I don't think this is worth closing the discussion yet or anything
  • I personally think its gross. Not because its breastfeeding but that its a CHILD mimicking it. I mean having a period is natural but would I want my 5 yearold changing her babies tampon/pad? True kids shadow what they see but I would never give my child a toy intended for that purpose.

  • @richjen24 I prolly could if people didnt think their shit didnt stink like the rest of ours!!
  • The noises take it to far ...
  • I would love to see everyone who says to cover up while nursing eat w a blanket on their head. Or better yet enjoy your next meal at a restaurant in their public bathroom.

Oh you think thats gross... So does my hungry infant with a sense of smell and every right you have to eat where ever you do.

I see some pretty skimpy clothing on very young girls, I don't agree with in the malls. This doll or NIP doesn't cause these children to dress inappropriately or get pregnant young. It's a lack of properly teaching these young women their value as women not just as sex objects. They have no self respect. It's a shame.

We aren't all going to agree, at least have respect for someone else's choices as long as the are made w the childs safety and health in mind.
